    S-280 shelter mounting

I know the military can go crazy when it comes to manuals. Do you have TB 43-0124? It's a technical bulletin. It appeared to have more information about part listings, maybe other sources listed for you to check.

    Is an M548 Really Amphibious?

Found this, at about 1:15 it appears to go fully amphibious, also around 2 minutes in as well: I mean, it's not exactly the same thing, but it's derived from a 548, maybe check out what the company that makes them did, and you might find the difference...

    S-280 shelter mounting

Are you referring to the tie down plate?

    Over heating

160 is not too hot I don't think, in fact I read an old thread the other day where most people said theirs ran around this temp. Mine runs around 160 when I'm driving around town. On the highway it'll be around 175. When climbing a mountain pass it got to around 190'ish, just below the 200...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

New mud flaps. Got inspired when I saw someone's truck earlier in the thread. My mud flaps were only 1 foot long and I knew that was too short in any state. Mud flaps are dirt cheap (as you'd expect) except for the 20 inch variety which are stupid expensive. So, I bought a pair of 24x24x3/8...

    M109A3 - Combat Camper Build

So, did you ever accomplish your pass through? I'm installing a a roll up door for mine, but haven't decided how to seal up the back of the cab to the truck bed. I'm thinking something on tracks as I need it to take off and put back.

PROBLEMS with New basic Hard Top Overhead Console for M35 military vehicles from TMG

I posted earlier in this thread that I also had a problem with your company, and that I sent an e-mail asking my order be changed within 10 minutes of placing my order. The order and request took place on a weekend at like 2 a.m., so it's not like it got fulfilled immediately. Someone had to...

    Aftermarket gauges

That's very similar to the gas gauge I use now, a yard stick that is stuck behind the seats.

My Little Black Truck (Deuce ****)

I like the gun storage bit. I want to carry a musket (brown bess long land pattern) and I think it would fit this way.

    Sound Insulation

That could be a consideration. I do have plans on a custom paint job down the road...dazzle camo.

    Aftermarket gauges

Can anyone recommend a line of gauges that closely match our dash gauges? I'm replacing them because I want them to be lighted and some of the solutions I've read about don't appeal to me. Also, I'm about doubling the number of gauges and thought it would just be easier with all new. While I...

    Sound Insulation

So, I got the actual hood liner material up: As you can see, I got pretty good coverage and after doing the same decibel test I get 101 outside, 10 feet in front of the engine and 105 decibels from inside the cab, at idle... So, a little disappointing. In a way, it's not surprising. After...

    Sound Insulation

The material I'm using has a self-adhesive backing. If it comes off, well, I'll just worry about that when it happens. I'm sure it will over time, but I open the hood enough that I'll probably notice if it starts to come loose.

    Sound Insulation

I thought I'd apply the .067" sound insulation to both sides of the firewall. I know I won't be able to get complete coverage on the engine side but I figure it might help. Part of the purpose of the insulation in the engine bay is to redirect (bounce) the sound and this is what I'm hoping to...

    Sound Insulation

This is gonna be an ongoing thread as I want to include both the hood and the cab. My general plan is a thin underlay followed by something thicker. For the hood, I also plan on doing the firewall, at least with the thinner layer. Then a thicker hood liner I did a bit of searching on the web...

Sound insulating the hood - added weight

So, I'm putting 2 layers of sound insulation under the hood and after the first layer it's really added a bit of weight to the hood. I'll have to install a handle as it's now a bit harder to lift. I'm also concerned about the hinges. Those that have added a hood liner and/or sound insulation...

    Mud flap

My mud flaps are 19" off the ground. Some of the states call for as low as 6".

    Mud flap

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll head to the local hardware store, see what they have for heavy rubber, buy a piece 21" x 48" and cut it in half.

    Mud flap

Looking at the mud flap and regulations around the country, I realize it's too short. Now, I don't expect I'd get pulled over...unless a cop was behind me and a rock flew into their windshield. So, the mud guards behind my wheels are 21" wide, which appears to be a non-standard size in the...

    First step - cab rebuild

I bribe the neighbor with cookies and candies from time to time. Height isn't a consideration because once I build the camper I'll be even higher! Most bridges in the US have a 13' clearance and I'll be around 11' when I'm done - if need be, I'll take another route. As to trips in the woods...
