The operators manual has a decent description but after reading I still felt intimidated by it, as I had no real world experience with anything other than little electric aftermarket winches on Jeeps.
This should help...
We are so sorry to hear this. The family has our condolences and if there's anything we can do to assist, we'd be happy to.
Matt was a big help running the Ga. Rally. He ran our First Aid station (he was a former medic) and not only did he run it, he supplied all the materials and helped...
Difference between the regular pedals and A3 pedals can be seen here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?82965-Extended-height-M44-pedals&highlight=
Deuce = 12' long
5 ton = 14' long
Main differences are the length and some small differences in how the taillights mount.
I can't speak of advantages as I haven't done this.
Alright, I need help finding something.
I could have sworn that Reo sold a civilian version of the M44 (I think it was an M34) in the 1950's. It was mechanically the same as our stuff but with 12V electricals and regular automotive wiring. I really remember seeing some kind of a full page...
This picture doesn't show the maximum frame twist that is possible, but it's a good example. From the 2008 SSGR.
I guess you could look at it like that, but to me, it seems like a good reason to spend 15 minutes and $0 and adjust your PTO linkage.
I don't have a problem with hydraulic...
1. Synchro is worn out. Need to inspect the gears to make sure they're ok.
2. PTO linkage is binding up when the frame flexes. As the frame flexes, the linkage is trying to push the PTO into gear. Next time it does this, instead of pushing in the clutch, reach down and apply pressure to...
All the harnesses you'll usually find on ebay are the wrong ones, they're for M35A1's which you can make work, but they're slightly different.
Erik's has the cheapest harness, I think they're currently $310. It's the entire front harness, cab and front end.
There are several threads here...
Is that new? Because if so, I'd like to buy 2.
The absolute cheapest I have found the correct wire rope is about $3.60 a foot and with the M44 using 200', that's a lot more than $300, plus that doesn't include the end termination pieces or a chain.
These stories make me so mad when I see people bidding stuff up to retail prices on GL. You are buying from a wholesaler-in fact, GL is the govt. surplus version of the local auto auction.
You really, really, really don't want to pay retail for a car (or whatever) from the local auto auction...
What about all the people who have registration and titles for 1985+ vehicles already? I've had my '87 M35A2C tagged and titled since I bought it in 2011. Do I need to do anything?
I need a single soft top bow for Deuce/5-ton. Anyone have a single?
We have green and tan Deuce cargo covers, new in the box we can bring. NOS military side marker lights in red and amber, I think clintogf has an NOS 20' single pin NATO slave cable, she has brand new NOS slave cable ends...
Several points-
The weird nut you're referring to is wreckerman8.................. err................ wait, we're talking about alternators. :)
The weird nut you're referring to is a castle nut. It is slotted so you can put a cotter pin in it.
You typically do not need to loosen the bottom...
