    2014 Ga. Rally volunteers needed

I have some great people lined up for volunteer spots, but we still need more. If you want to be a part of the world's premier green iron party, we can use you! That's great, we're looking forward to seeing you again. The rally has grown a lot since you were last here.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month June 2014 - Nominate here!

I'd like to nominate littlebob's (http://www.steelsoldiers.com/member.php?2137-littlebob) deuce. He bought a rough looking GSA truck and proceeded to pull it about 70% apart and repaint and refurbish a lot of stuff on it. I couldn't find a main restoration thread, but he had posted some...

A3 Bed on A2, help hooking up auxiliary lights

The side markers are part of the taillight circuit (21 I think) so you need to tap into that circuit. I have an A3 bed and plan on doing what you're doing, but I haven't bothered to look at the M35A3 wiring schematic to see where the sub harness for the markers integrates with the rear harness...

    2014 Ga. Rally volunteers needed

Yes. A sign of how much I'd come to rely on Matt is the fact that I took his presence for granted. Post #1 edited to add this.

    2014 Ga. Rally volunteers needed

Probably no earlier than Wednesday. The skeleton crew there before then can probably manage it. Also, edited post #1 to reflect that. Oct. 8-12, 2014. Also, post #1 edited to reflect that. Noted.

    2014 Ga. Rally volunteers needed

I will be putting up the 2014 Ga. Rally info thread very soon. Rally is Oct. 8-12, 2014. I am asking for volunteers to either post here or pm me what they'd like to do and when they will be available. Please do not volunteer unless you know you are coming to the rally and are willing to make...

    Which task is preferable?

I don't think either job is really easier....... the winch has a lot of work where you're standing up and comfortable, but the transfer swap is almost all under the truck or leaned over the cab. The winch is more work but most of it is easy. Buying a sprag transfer winch truck and then...

Looking for a deuce, what can you tell me about these?

Only the 1987-1989 USAF contract Deuces were dual circuit brakes. A 1971 or 1986 M35A2C would still have single circuit brakes.

    6th Brake Hose?

The master? Unless someone in the past redid your truck with homemade hoses, that's not the case. There is a double flared hard line that carries brake fluid from the master to the airpack, then a double flared hard line that carries fluid to various distribution blocks on the vehicle. There...

Best way to clean and degrease?

I've put it on undiluted (100% strength) and not peeled the paint, but your mileage may vary. A lot probably depends upon how well the paint is sticking to the subsurface.

Best way to clean and degrease?

I got some industrial Zep from a very good friend () and I will thin it varying degrees and apply it using a bug sprayer. Let it sit 5 minutes and pressure wash away. Like Zout said, nothing's as good as a steam cleaner. I have a friend with one and I just can't believe what it does...

Possible Support Needed for Road Trip

jeez loiuse, put on your thinking cap! How do you expect a man to clean his gutters? Prune the tall bushes? Get an apple for his kid? Get the neighbor's cat out of the tree? Get the kid's rubber band airplane off the roof? Look at the sunbathing neighbor next door? Put the dog on the roof...

    M35a2 motor swap

The transmission isn't heavy, 2 guys can pick one up. The bigger issue will be properly balancing the load with the transmission attached. I don't have a good way to do this (currently) so I separate the engine and trans before removal. I am working on a way to pull and install them...

    M35a2 motor swap

While you're swapping engines, now is the time to do anything engine compartment related: Want to paint it (the engine compartment)? No better time. Steering box leaking or worn out? Believe me, now is the time to rebuild it. Memphis has the rebuild kits priced reasonably. A steam cleaner...

Best street legal power steering conversion? For 2.5tonn

There have been literally dozens of threads on all the ways to upgrade M44 series steering systems, you should ask this question in one of those threads. If you need help finding them (or other threads in the future) there is a link in my signature line. Click it, ask for help. I'll link a...

    Brand new to this

A 715 is an old enough vehicle that you won't be buying it from GL. You may find some through the State surplus services but they'll be likely to have been used by Fire Departments and modified to varying degrees. Your best bet for 715s is eBay, SS classifieds, Craigslist and your local...

    Off-road or folding mirrors

If, and only if, you hit the obstacle in a certain way. I have bent the cowling on 2 different trucks, because of the way I touched an obstacle and it pulled the mirror assy. (legs and all) with it. I have been considering some kind of plastic "sheer pin" arrangement for the mirrors. You...
