    PNW Info Thread!

Well, there are no tulip fields north of Mt. Vernon. I hope you don't consider the Yukon to also be tulip country... As for the MRAP, I suspect the sheriff got it for free, and as it's at the VoTec I suspect that students are getting to work on it (the engine) as part of their classes.

Tools for working on the Deuce

Seems like this topic just came up not to long ago... I have jack stands rated at 6t each, 2 I got from HF and 2 from Amazon (which was less $ than HF - and they're better than HF). I splurged on and got a Esco yellow jacket jack rated at 20t. If you're gonna remove the wheels and get into...

Always something to do on these trucks...

Driving on the freeway today when the low air warning buzzer comes on. Pull onto an exit ramp (that's on a slope) within probably 100 yards, all the while slowing down. As I come to a stop I got both feet on the brakes because I've lost pressure. But one tank was still fine, at just under 120...

    Axle/brake rebuild questions

The jack stand I was referring to are: https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Lift-T-6906D-Double-Jack-Stand/dp/B074R17GL4 which are rated 6t each. When I bought them a few months ago the price was almost $10 cheaper. I also agree with going a little overboard on ratings. I have 2 6t rated stands from...

    Axle/brake rebuild questions

I got a pair of 6t jack stands on Amazon for about $30-$40 including shipping - cheaper than HF and better quality. The whole truck weighs just under 7t. While I can make the argument to buy better than HF when it comes to the jack itself, jack stands are pretty basic. I'm a little leery...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Cue the Rolling Stones... The streaks on the tires in the second pic is because it started to rain during the painting. Stupid 10% chance of rain...

    Normal top speed for Deuce

My top speed used to 55 mph, after I put on super singles the top speed increased to 62 (15% bigger wheel, 15% faster). However, if there's any sort of uphill slope involved my top speed varies widely.

Bumper platform - looking for input

I've thought about how I might put on some bumper platforms and figured I'd post my rough plans here and ask for any input. Plan is fairly simple: 1/4 inch plate steel (I'll look at diamond plate or maybe something else when I'm at the steel yard and compare prices). I have a stick welder...

How is the value of the M35A3 holding up?

It's mostly done for cosmetic reasons. If you go to super singles (A1 or A2), depending on the offset of the wheels many flip the hubs to push the wheels more outside. It can also add to stability and align the front and rear wheels to the same track.

    Door Shut and won't open

You can go in through the windshield if this happens. A good reason to leave your windshield unlocked. There's a sentence I never thought I'd write.

How is the value of the M35A3 holding up?

I tell people that running A3's start around 12k and up. Find the happy medium between how fast you can sell it and what you can get for it.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Did a car show a couple weeks ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxu4J27sa_M Deuce shows up around 2:58. It's a D turbo with a Donaldson truck muffler (in case you're wondering why it's so "quiet").

Any advice on weird tree spade conversion, in Upstate, SC?

As you say, that you know how to work on vehicles you should be able to handle the repairs and you probably know enough to inspect it as well. I don't know what tree spades cost including the cost to mount. I don't think the truck will ever be worth more than what you pay for it, but it might...

    M35a2 Deuce won't Start

Why? My metal box is rusting out, I was thinking of welding up a new one and installing some sort of cabinet sliders.

Registering a Deuce in Ohio issues.

They take vehicles really seriously in Ohio, or is this common in other states? In Washington, no one looked at my truck. I just bring the paperwork to a desk, pay the money and leave. WA collector plates never expire and never need to be paid for again.

Registering a Deuce in Ohio issues.

I've found the DoL's in private hands (usually at strip malls) tend to pay less attention to their jobs...if they have these were you live.

Registering a Deuce in Ohio issues.

Just because the truck was used in another state doesn't mean it's good to go where you live. You might try to see what it would take to not be classed a military truck, if that's the sticking point. You might also try and familiarize yourself with the rule/law that is the problem. The deuce...

    1972 M35A2/ Bobbed Deuce and a half

Can you read the numbers on the plate, on the engine? (the plate is on the passenger side of the engine, should be able to see it easily with the hood up) If you can have a conversation while the engine is running, it's probably a D turbo. If you want to learn a little bit, read the Wikipedia...
