    Gen 1 Issue?

That stinks!! Unfortunately it does sound like the guys rebuilding them didn't know gen 1 had to be an isolated ground. If they're not familiar with the 24 volt system on these trucks it wouldn't be hard to miss. You should be able to test if it was isolated or not by checking resistance at the...

    Oil Pressure Gauge Location

I'd hook one up there at the head. One thing I've seen when doing that though is you pop a t in there and that can break over time so use the shortest extension coming out of it to the t so it won't fracture with all the vibration or get a short hydraulic hose made so the vibration won't matter...

MEP802 on the House. What's going on here...

If you can have an ac guy or electrician check the in rush amps of the ac setup, you may find a soft start will work. They're about 300$ and easy to install. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

How far away is the genset from the house? Is 6 4 big enough for the distance? Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

MEP802 on the House. What's going on here...

I'd bet your ac compressor pulls more than 40 amps to start up...pop a soft start on it then it should be able to handle it better. Until then I wouldn't run the ac...might pop the capacitor on the power input of the compressor. If you haven't already do a basic load test by adding a little at a...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

That's Mike...he's got a good bit of these on hand. They are all southern trucks that are in great condition. He sells them all the time like this plus fully restored. He does tons of parts too if you need anything off of one. He'll get that price or close to it too. Your's would bring high...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

Got the rear diff fluid changed on the 1028 and swapped in a nos cover as well. It has 02/08 painted on it, I think the fluid was due for a change. I did change the other axle shaft seal, and it had the same paper stuff as a gasket, but not much was left. Kids painting all day, so he primed and...

    Using thicker oil

Glad you made it through that. Maybe you got some bugs in the radiator too?? Like radiator might be a little clogged? Hopefully the last no power issue until you get it buttoned down! Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

    CUCV M1008 Build

That's a ton of info!! I've never seen that type of insert before. Looks very long. I've used heli coil but moved on to time certs since I think they're permanent vs might uncoil if removed again. From the sounds of it you got a new engine without all the casting issues the old stuff had. I'll...

    CUCV M1008 Build

Holy smokes!!!! After all that with the engine it turned out to be cracked! That stinks...guess you're better off just replacing it with the new engine. Are they rebuilds of certain kinds of castings? I've heard there's different ones depending on year. Is the ip matched with the injectors for a...

    Using thicker oil

Dang that's a tough spot to be in if you need it right now. Putting in the thicker oil can get you by in a pinch. You won't get that much more psi but it might run longer without dropping. I've used that motor honey before on a few engines in the past and can't see it hurting anything. The zink...

    MEP 531A Fix-up Thread

I didn't know you did a short video of flashing the genset! Just came up after the new video. Now I need that diode and I'm going to check that voltage adjuster...might get power out of it! Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

Yeah, sorry, I should have taken a pic of the part in the bag! Already installed it, but I bought 2 to do the other side, too. It is a pretty solid gasket. It's not paper, so I hope it lasts! Be curious if it'll crush 2 x if I have to remove it again. I used the old bolts...wondering if I should...
