MEP 803A shows 60 hertz but no voltage

Easiest thing to check is the fuse next to the voltage regulator...if that has been done but don't know....look up the tm in the sticky of the genset section here and that will narrow it down better too.

    Winter weather.

I have not put a meter on it yet. I did the 30 second glow plug then hit the starter and it ran for about 30 seconds normally then shut off..sputter started then smoked no start out the exhaust! I'm gonna give it some cool off time and try it again. Kinda acting like it ran out of fuel or has...

    Winter weather.

I'm in central Pa. Temp at noon was 51...it's 4:00 and it's 11 out with a -7 windchill!! Crazy...unfortunately my 803 is being a smoker trying to get it to start!! Dang thing gets run every month loaded up!! Luckily it's on the back side where the wind isn't that bad so I'm diving into it...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

Installed the pulsetech battery maintainer on his 1009 yesterday! They are pretty easy and hopefully do something...I can see the led flash so I guess it does. Installed another block heater today, in the rain, since the other stopped after 5 days...that 4 core radiator holds 4 gallons of...

    Another CUCV Alternator question

Re Rebuilding doesn't save much money at all...I think the kits are 60-70$...once you add in time it's a wash for most. I do mine so I know it's put together correctly and with a solid rebuild kit. The wires that usually give trouble are the grounds...most are cheap crimp with no heat wrap...

    Another CUCV Alternator question

There's no dumb questions here. You should be able to click any picture and zoom in on. My laptop has the touch pad and use 2 fingers to pinch in and out to get close or far. Not sure what computer your using but it should have that capability. If you can't figure that out post up what...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

I think you're right for sure. This blazer, I think, has a new engine in it and it's a 6.5. The reason he wanted the block heater was to help cold start wear...batteries, starter, alternator and glow plugs don't work hard on a warm engine. He's told me the glow plugs don't even turn on when...

    AcuTemp Refrigerator

Having that lid on shocks is really nice for sure! I use mine all summer. The batteries do die after about a month if it's not being used. I leave it plugged in a bunch. My next thing I need to figure out is some kind of netting inside or something keeping stuff from bouncing all over the...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

I got the radiator for 350 and it still had the plugs screwed into the oil and transmission cooler ports...dang good deal...I took it to a rad shop and they fixed up the tank fittings since they were dented up some from the military surplus...still had cardboard on it plus the tag...had it air...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

Block heater is really working. It is a 1000 watt freeze plug style and has been plugged in since 9 pm...it's 6am for these pics...it was plugged in after driving it so it was, in theory, at least 195 degrees...so it dropped 100 degrees but is holding 93 degrees all over the engine. I'm using a...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

So the repair for the board worked great but the batteries did not last much more than a week before they would not hold a charge anymore overnight, cold kicked the bucket...so 2 new 6TM batteries went in! Nice having the Carlisle military stuff around with a distributor there for them...pricing...

CUCV Heaven, My build of a 1009 and 1008

Been way to long since I've updated on the 1009...but it's been painted and all new seals installed...kid got his license last week so now he's driving it everyday. Had a fail in alternator 1 and it didn't charge the battery. I thought it was just low on water and acid, which it was, but it...

    M1009 axle swap from M1008

If you're thinking of running the hmmv tires and rims I'd assume you've never tried to get a hmmv up over 50 mph....there's a reason they suck goin fast...tires are tough as nails so the ride is horrific...made more than a few scrambled brains in one.

    U-joint replacement PN

Be careful when getting parts...use the TM and get part numbers and look them up yourself...if they have a quality brand then buy it online with the discount and pick it up at the store.

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I picked up a spare last week...the guy had 6...I can ask if he'd sell one more...he said no one was looking at them...he's south of Shrewsbury by the MD border...I need the rear stabilizing leg that stores up front...mine is missing one! Barn time soon! Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk

    M1008 Build

I got a NOS rebuild kit for my master and Booster a few months ago from a surplus store north of Harrisburg...Both were still in the brown military boxes...I'd rather rebuild mine than deal with parts right now...you're right about getting anything. If you do buy from the chain stores do the...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I remember that year had a couple foot droppers of snow! Shut down york for about a week...Hey, don't forget to keep cleaning up the barns for parts finds...We gotta make it up there again soon!

Sourcing a complete engine wiring harness '86 M1008

Buying from John isn't an if it's a when...can't go wrong though...300 for a harness is not bad if you can't fix the one you have! Take notice to the ends of your harness carefully once you get the new one and compare them...since things like glow plugs and temp sensors might not match up plug...

    M1028 Resurrection

That looks great!! Yes I saw his brush guard at spring Carlisle...very nice. Shouldn't be to hard to find something to pop on the back...I think CUCVrus has some ambulance boxes at his place...He's goin through a sellin phase too...gotta jump when that happens!!
