Just another alternator charging, battery thread - help for new owners?

What’s that large cable hooked to the alternator ground point?

That spare was moving like it had a purpose:)

    FMTV Air Hydraulic Unit Repair

A 1.5cu/in Prince Wolverine. It is a dual action pump, so pumps handle up and down(installed pump is only single acting). And it has a valve for controlling a dual action cylinder(extend&retract). The installed pump is about .25-.30cu/in per pump stroke, but the lever force is quite light...

    FMTV Air Hydraulic Unit Repair

If you are just replacing the AOP, something like the below unit should work. The cab lift cylinder for instance requires just under 0.2 gallons of fluid to lift fully. My AOP lifts mine just under 60 seconds, so it is about a 0.2 GPM pump. That is a bit long of a duty cycle for a small...

    Ramdough Cab Modifications Build Thread

Most definitely, and you really don’t want a windblown door jerking you out of a cab 6’ in the air when you try and stop it because you know there is no stop…

Thats where a folding scissor bar with a spring or a better quality track might be an alternative to the upper strap…

    NATO Plugs (Alternatives)

Yea, a disconnect will do it, either ground or 12V. If you go 12V you can use a fairly small one as the most current it should ever see @ 12V is max alt output which won’t be over 100A. The lighting and other loads combined are only about 30A or so tops… The only draw I have found was thru I...

    NATO Plugs (Alternatives)

About 6 posts up, Mullaney posted a pic of one… There is another name they go by, but it escapes me right now. Have used them on UPS’s, have seen them on electric forklifts, have used them on front-back receiver hitch winch installs. I have never had an issue with one…

    NATO Plugs (Alternatives)

The Andersons are also widely used in UPS battery banks, they come in all sorts of sizes, from the size of my finger tip, to the size of my hand(Or perhaps larger). Still dark compatible, they can only go together one way, so like a USB connector if it doesn’t fit in the port, roll one end...

    Ramdough Cab Modifications Build Thread

I don’t think covering them is a problem. As for door restraint, I think the alternate method is a track and bar assembly on the bottom of the door. Now wether the track was intended to work with, in addition to, or in place of the strap, I am not sure… I have not seen a truck with the track...

    FMTV Air Hydraulic Unit Repair

Yea you can replace the air op unit with a 12 or 24v DC hydraulic power unit. It also doesn’t take one very large to simply run the cab lift or tire crane. In fact you want one sub 1 Gallon Per Minute(closer to 1/2GPM). Any more than that and it will simply build to full pressure and push the...

Looks good! Good houses have good foundations, can’t wait to see how this is finished up:)

    M1078 A1 transfer case

That was the point I was trying to make, the info I posted draws attention to that specific bearing as being an issue, but it only says to simply insure you replace it, not that their is an upgrade, as the specified p/n still appears to be valid and available, unlike the info Langstonhs posted...

    FMTV Air Hydraulic Unit Repair

I think I am going to just go manual only using a prince pump and valve. I am removing all the tire structure and relocating the air filter for my build anyway and a simple manual pump will simplify things greatly…

    1078A1 Drivetrain

The center AWD torque converter is a 70/30 torque split favoring the rear, and you are correct, if torque can escape thru any one wheel, it will and the truck will just set. But when you select mode, this locks that center diff turning it from AWD to 4WD And the torque splits equally between...

    1078A1 Drivetrain

Well cracks do not necessarily mean it won’t run. And driving without a rear driveshaft is as simple as pushing the mode button… But covering up “doesn’t run“ markings with cardboard is definitely failure to disclose…

    M1078 A1 transfer case

I think the problem you would run into with tilting engine/trans to remove the C6 housing is that lower crossmember. It still might not clear that and you would be approaching an angle where the rear of the engine contacts the lift structure to even clear the upper crossmember…. Langstonhs...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Excellent pics! The clutch pack is inside that C6 housing, secured with that large snapring. It slides over the end of a long shaft(seen in the last 2 pics) that runs forward thru the transfer case, thru the hollow transmission output adapter shaft that couples transfer to trans output(P3...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

Yea, I don’t have a bed on mine and my upper subframe is going to be converted to be the floor structure of my hab build so it is mostly unbolted Already. I might slide that upper frame back so I can pull that c6 cover and inspect/replace that bearing just because I can. It doesn’t seem to be...

    M1078 A1 transfer case

And I guess a question for Allison would be, since that bulletin Langstonhs posted starts with a particular s/n transmission, does this roller to composite washer change apply to earlier s/n units used in the A0? The roller bearing p/n listed in the 24P manual still shows as being available...
