Update: More parts
An update on this job. I have accumulated some more parts over the last few days and I thought I would post some pics and info on them.
Rear main seal w/ installation sleeve: I ordered it under p/n 3006737 (the number listed in TM -34-1) from...
I just bought the 15' hose Milton with the lock on chuck to keep on the truck. I feel much safer with the stand off it affords you while filling. This is where I got mine...

I have attempted to remove the seal via the blue arrow ring and I get not a budge. The elusive o-ring is behind that ring on the outer edge butting up to the flywheel housing. This leads me to believe the blue arrow ring is in fact integral to the rear cover/oil housing and I have messed up...
This repair is listed in the -34-1. So, I guess that would make it a third echelon/third shop or higher job. Not a simple motorpool/field fix. As far as tanks go, the unit maintenance could pull a power pack and change out small parts such as a starter. However, a turbine replacement was...
Update: Talked to the guys down at Memphis Eq. and they said the bell housing needs to come off with the style I have to get to the rear cover/oil seal housing. They also said very rarely, if at all, does the bell housing need to dialed back in. My seal should be here this week, so...
UPDATE 18AUG12: The job is done! See page 2 post 19 & 20 for details...
UPDATE 08AUG12: I have pretty much figured this all out. Please read on as I post the details of my progress.
I have removed all components involved to get into the flywheel housing of the NHC250 in my M818. Now, TM...

If it is a critical safety type item or major load bearing and it's fine thread, that is what I put back in. Also, obviously, if a hole is tapped with fine that is what goes in. When I buy military issue installation kits, I always use the included hardware which are, more often than not, fine...
Rear Main Seal/Clutch Job
Last Saturday, 21JUL12, My neighbor, my son and I dropped the transmission, clutch PP and disc, and the flywheel as part of the ongoing rear main seal seal/clutch replacement job. Ended up not using a transmission jack. We just chain hoisted it down onto a furniture...
The M35A3 wheel is the same size as the original M809 wheel. It's just a much better quality wheel with a thick rubber coating. The part numbers do cross reference. It's not "gutural interference" I have problems with, my legs are to d@mn long. My thighs get in the way. When I get in the...
When I replaced my wheel with an M35A3 steering wheel (Steering Wheel for M35A3 / M54A2 / M809 / M939, RCSK17043, 81514B1, 79210, 3G6121, 11601248, 69-657), I replaced the horn button, wire and contact. The small button kits (Horn Button Switch Kit (new style) For M35A2/M35A3/M809 etc...

I do not live in a HOA, but I don't park at the house to avoid neighbor and city issues. I store my truck off-site only due to the fact I do not have extra storage. The driveway is to narrow and the street would be the only spot to use.
I agree with...
So far, I have attended one funeral, two Memorial Day Ceremonies ('11 and '12) with truck and one Welcome Home (not a funeral) at LAX (no truck). All invited by family. I wish I had time for more, day job interferes. No, I do not own a bike and, yes, I am a registered member of the Patriot...
The fine lad was taken back to see that a regular ole' Joe, who didn't know him from Adam, gave a darn to honor him and his brothers for their service. Letting him know it is not all in vain. As the Aussies say, "Good on ya', Mate!"
This is what makes it all worth owning these vehicles...
I am prepping my truck for a rear main seal and all clutch components change out. It's been leaking engine oil into the bell housing soaking the clutch. So, I figure I should just change everything while in there.
My son and I removed the companion seat, front and rear cab tunnels, gearshift...
Congrats on another successful MV registration. Now the ole' truck is officially a civilian. Makes me think back to the day when I officially separated from the Army. Today is like your truck's official retirement day.
These trucks deserve a break when it comes to registration. They stood...
Bed sectioned out about 2 ft. and retained the spare tire/utility box rack. The bed hangs off the frame end about 14". I like the short wheelbase for ease of maneuvering. Only drawback is I will have to custom cut a cargo cover to fit when I get one. I did not retain the fifth wheel.
