I'm going to agree with all the above quotes. I'm not going to jump on the CDL bandwagon nor chastise the OP for not having one. But, I will encourage him to get right, legal and safe in his state.
That being said, the air brake test administered by DMV/DOT's does not prepare one to FIX air...
I am planning on doing this mod. I will be picking up a set of the HMMWV seats this weekend. I have an seat similar to the commanders seat (I believe it is from an FMTV) mounted to a stock springer base as my driver's seat. That seat will become part of the companion seats.
My question is how...
RDUKW...Try these guys http://www.dionandsons.com/lube_s.htm for your supply point. They are in Long Beach near PCH/710. I looked high and low for 50W for my Spicer and they had it. So, I'd imagine they can help you out with your tranny fluid.
Torque Rods Done...NOT!
Was just finishing up a complete (all 12) torque rod end replacement project. As I was tightening the last nut, to my dismay, I noticed the top/rear/axle end bushing was separating from the outer metal casing that is press in to the torque rod. I then check the five...
Bumping this back up. There is no "Edit your details" button in the new User CP to allow members to change custom rank section. Is this in the works? Thanks.
Last year I was able to find the M939 series upgrade kit locally. Cost me less than a tank of gas to get it home. Check out the install...http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/79121-939-battery-box-upgrade-809-a.html#post1002457
I just replaced a pressure plate, disc, pilot bearing, throwout bearing (w/ yoke) and machined the flywheel. Disc was oil soaked from a bad rear main seal (also replaced). Hardest part was dropping the transmission, but everything else went fairly easy.
The clutch operation in my truck is...
Installed for about a year now so still evaluating length of service time. No electrical problems whatsoever. In the warm climate of So Cal the extra cranking power is not needed from four batteries. I'd imagine that you might have the same weather conditions in TX. However, I can upgrade to...
Clarification: They are the same batteries each having temperate and cold weather ratings:
Group 34
Cranking Amps (CA) 1000/ Cold Cranking Amps @ (32° F) (CCA) 795
The ratings are listed on the red portion of the batteries in my pic.
I wouldn't pair up dissimilar batteries.
An additional...
M818: I installed two Group 34's (ea. rated @1000 CA and 795 CCA [32° F]) from Costco. I don't have extreme cold weather issues in So Cal so two are plenty. See pic for how they fit with original tie down and some wood blocking (2 X 6 and 2 X 4 with measurements written on them).
topo...were you able to bust loose the old nuts during removal with the modified wrench? If I didn't have a bed on the truck the offset wrench would handle it no problem. I can't work above the frame rail due to the bed.
Top Rod Inner Nuts X-(
OK fellas...a little lost here and I need some pointers. I have successfully replaced all the rod ends and reinstalled the four bottom torque rods on my M818 with a deuce bed. Piece of cake.
Now the problem:mad:aua. I have read here and have discussed with SS members...
Just got my four lower torque rods back from the shop with eight brand new ends pressed in. Cost $20 an end to press old ends out and new ends in. I have a bare rod on order that will need the new ends sitting in the garage pressed in. Hopefully I can finish up the job in the next two weeks.
