What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

When it comes time to replace, IF ever, they are much, much easier to work with than copper. They would be easier to replace if there is a malfunction. I worry more about copper getting damaged, i.e. bent and kinked, than the nylon. You can get a fairly decent bend with the nylon without...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

End of last week I finished replacing all the copper air lines and fittings with 3/8"OD and 1/2"OD DOT reinforced nylon tubing and push-to-fit fittings bumper to bumperette. Everything has been replaced with the exception of the under dash tubing for the low air warning switch and the...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I installed some bumperettes from an M54. They're more cosmetic than functional filling a void created by the bed overhang. I am happy with the results. It did require a little modification so I am able to remove the tie-down pins. I finally obtained and installed the steel plate that...

    Transmission Oil - 80w/90 vs SAE 40/50

It's not a Deuce, but I put Rotella T1 50W in the 5-ton. It's much smoother than the the 80W-90 and is Spicer/Dana recommended. 2cents

    "Bikini" style cab top

I did consider just threading the rope through the grommets and leaving the rope on the top when removed. Then I thought it would be easier to install the hooked rope after putting the top on. That way I didn't have rope flopping all over and potentially getting tangled on something while...

    "Bikini" style cab top

I just put the full cab top back on for long term coverage. The bikini top is sort of like "Sunday-go-da-meetin'" clothes. I've gotten quite adept on the donning and doffing of cab tops.
