Added midships ambers
I decided to install midships amber marker lights also. I used a "Y" adapter on the right midships light, wired across the front bed bulkhead to the left and then dressed the supply lead along the frame to the 5 wire harness in the rear. I used another "Y" adapter, as all...

AND, some spare parts/counterweights:wink:
The "shelf" right behind the left headlight keeps mine nicely out of sight.
What I like about the Graham-White valve is you can meter out the sound...give a little or the whole shootin'-match. Certainly does grab peoples attention. I had a guy, he was making an illegal left turn, pass me on...
Locomotive Air Horn
Installed a big noise maker! Slipped a Nathan Airchime P-3 locmotive air horn under the hood nicely out of sight. It fits perfectly in the area forward of the air intake behind the headlight. I chose the P-3 because I am a fan the Southern Pacific, who used them extensively...
rangereter: Thanks for posting the info from my original thread http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?99840-WARNING-Bad-Torque-Rod-Ends. Sam Winer has serviceable GI torque rod ends. That's what I completed my project with.
Reinstalled the breather cap, intake rubber elbow, grille assembly and headlights. Finished up all decal work and made some new magnetic boards for unit insignia and non-profit decals for the tailgate. If I didn't post before, I lowered the right/rear water can holder to clear the new marker...
I haven't posted in this thread for a while, but I thought it was fitting to resurrect it for this project. The original 686 sand on my truck was was a more "brown" shade and the Rapco 686 sand, that I have used for upgrading projects is more "yellowy". I decided to blend at it all to the Rapco...

Now to reinstall...
-Doing a minor repaint (touch-up) to even out the color
-And finished relocating my water can holder on right rear mud guard (I had to drop it down a few inches to clear the marker light brackets).
-Red and amber marker lights all the way around...http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?106089-M809-marker-lights-a-la-M939

Side and rear/side markers are wired together using the same y-adapter and bulkhead connectors like on the front install; one set in each corner.
I ran the two wire leads to the center of the tailgate adjacent to the 5 wire harness, installed a female connector on each, then a y-adapter to...
For a little added safety and aesthetics (looking cool), I installed red rear, rear/side and rear identification LED marker lights and amber front/side LED marker lights.
I found the LED marker lights sold on eBay in pairs for $48.00 postpaid.
Erik’s has the metal brackets for the bed...
These are nice M35A3 steering wheels. I have one on my M818 and they do cross reference to M939-series trucks.
