    Aux starter solenoid mysteries

Yes, that is how it works. If those wires were for the thermal switch then yes, they need to be connected to each other to complete the circuit for the aux start solenoid. The individual wire numbers should be 93 and 93A on the thermal switch wires, and I can actually see “93A” on one of the...

Another A0 door handle and latch option.

I mocked it up with the rods I found in the door to get the dimensions correct. The final install uses Toyota rods and clips pulled from the junkyard donor vehicle and bent to match the mockup rods. They are very slightly larger(.125” vs .118”) in diameter than the original LMTV rods.

Another A0 door handle and latch option.

Thanks. There are lots of options for a backup unlock. You provide unlock power to the circuit via a reed switch and use a magnet thru a known location on a panel. You place a hidden switch. You route the wiring to an exposed location so it can be accessed and external power applied ect...

Another A0 door handle and latch option.

My truck came from auction with the handles and inner and outer latch assemblies stripped. After pricing several hundred dollars of hardware per door and known issues with the original spec handles, I started looking at other options in the auto and big truck world and stumbled upon these...

Another A0 door handle and latch option.

After a little measurement I came to the conclusion that Toyota door handles from a second generation(90-95) Toyota 4runner will cover(barely) the existing A0 door handle holes. Those from the 3rd gen(95-04) should also fit. The fronts have locks, the rears do not. I opted for the rear handles...

    Circuit Breakers

Breakers are cool and all, but hard to pass on the robust nature and vibration resistant characteristics of automotive fuses... The good thing about relays is they are easy enough to troubleshoot and bypass when necessary...

    Fan/WP/Bearing/Belt Squealing Question

Well I dont see a bearing being that selective unless it is reacting to temperature.Only bearing I see in that situation is the water pump... The fan bearing is either freewheeling or not. You could disconnect the temp switch and delay the fan coming on a bit to see if you can get the sound to...

M1078 LMTV Parking Brake not engaging

Is the front emergency gladhand plugged or does it have a non-vented cover installed? The anti compounding valve controlls the park brakes. It in turn receives park control air from the valve in the dash via the inversion valve. The emer gladhand also applies air to the same point on the...

Missing Fuse Panel - Replacement possible?

I only see one cut cable end, black, top center of the second pic. looks mostly plug and play to me on this side and way easier than the reconstruction another gentleman has undertaken just recently. Looks like another PDP circuit board will get you mostly there. Is the dash side OK?

    Dead electrical system

Yep, lots of threads here. Have seen variations of 2 or 4 batts using group 24 thru 31 or the 6TL’s... The 6tl’s are expensive and 4 of them is severe milspec overkill... I used a pair of group 31’s...

    Dead electrical system

What superman said. You must have 12V as all the starter control circuitry is 12V. A 24V jump is fine, but if the installed batts are so bad that they cannot complete a circuit to and float some current to the 12V in the middle of the bank, it wont work. The test for any basic no crank/start...

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

Yea, don't know about the newer models. The only A1 schematic I have which is labeled vehicle S/N 18550 thru 99999 have that second line running to the polarity protection box. I suspect the load control box uses that signal to control the disconnect relays.

    LMTV M1078 Tachometer

I believe the second terminal on the regulator is a sample of the field current being sent to the field winding. It is used to measure how hard the alternator is working and runs to the STE connector... On a 3116 you can sample a tach signal behind the heater or at the small freq divider box...
