Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

Steering wheel shaft splines stripped or skipped position? Something in steering shaft? That’s quite a difference in steering wheel position from one trip to the next without something being stripped or busted.

Trying to chase the cause of offset steering wheel.

Was it always this way or did it occur on your last trip?

New to me 1009 will not start

Welcome to Steel Soliders. If you can’t turn engine over by hand, then your correct.....it’s bad. Have you removed the glow plugs and tried again? It willl reduce compression and if it’s hydro locked, let any water out. Either way, your gonna have to start pulling parts off.

    Any updates?

First Post, hoping for some starter help...

If starter hasn’t been rebuilt in a while or never, I would recommend having it rebuilt. It’s already off the truck if you’re testing it. Don’t forget to use new starter bolts and that the front bracket is installed.

Looking for a Phoenix AZ based mechanic familiar with CUCV

Members in the Phoenix area might be able to refer you to a shop that can properly do the job. Quite a few guys have done the seal replacement themselves. Since truck has been converted to 12v, your kinda on your own in that area since no one knows what exactly was done to the electrical...

Looking for a Phoenix AZ based mechanic familiar with CUCV

What preventive items are you referring to? Oil change? New axle bearings? ??? Part of the fun of owning a CUCV is learning how to maintain them yourself. Their fairly easy to work on, and once you understand the 12/24 system, it’s not bad at all. The resources here and available member help...

    Light for floor shift bezel

ACDelco still makes the side marker socket. Edit: I think this is the correct shifter socket. “Shift light indicator socket” Also made by ACDELCO.

Truck looks in decent shape. Is a Repaint in its future? That red is definitely........Red. Great score on the pumper unit.

FMTV, LMTV, M1078 Civilian Truck-lite LED Headlight Install

I’ve used mine down to -6 and no issues. Some snow, but we don’t get much snow down here anymore. Have read some guys have had issues and most do not. Depends on that particular snowfall. TruckLite does make several styles with heated lenses. I’ve been in snow that sticks like glue and...

Went to a gun auction went home with a M762 3/4 ton trailer!!

Nice score! I bet it’s fun backing that small trailer up. I could use that for my concrete mixer and make it mobile. There is a company online who recreates original data plates. Been discussed on SS but can’t remember who it is now. Ebay has trailer data plates, but mostly for more common...

    M1009 value question.

Zero rustproofing and daily driving on salted roads, Much Sooner than later. Depends on if you rinse off truck after each trip and how well you do it. Unlikely if temps are at or below freezing. Having an unprotected truck covered in white road salt spray for an extended period of time, I...

How to have several hours of fun with starter bolts

At least you have both pieces in one spot.

    M1009 value question.

The road salt works fast. Once rust gets a foothold, it’s difficult to stop.

    M101 A3 parts

Mine all work. Just want new ones. Rust has seized two of the adjusters. In the correct position thank goodness. If I had a spare, I could take one apart and see if it could be refurbished and reassembled.

    Laundry list for the m1009

If you don’t drive it often, I would keep tank topped off. A full tank will have almost zero condensation buildup. The more airspace in tank, the more water buildup. SeaFoam also removes water from fuel system.
