Surge brakes are great.
They do make a difference on a loaded or unloaded trailer.
Always amazes me on how many guys that recommend no brakes on a trailer.

Used it on the floor of my 5 tons, then stock floor paddling on top of that.
Zero rust issues and the soft tops on the 5 tons always leaked. Even when brand new.

Creeps extremely well into all the nooks and crannies.
Sprayed it all inside CUCV cab floor and corners and just refreshed a few months ago.
I use it on my M101A2 trailers and pretty much everything.

You could run it a bit, get it to normal temps a lot and maybe the seals will expand and dry up since it had been sitting.
A rebuild is probably due as mentioned.
I’ve have used Gates for decades.
Belts, hoses and Thermostats.
The latter is made in China now.
Gates Belts and hoses I installed are still flawless. Almost three years now since install

Don’t know if I encountered a bad lot or their all junk now.
They all died same...
Load test your battery’s before getting new ones.
I had a starter slowly die.
Thought it was battery’s at first. They load tested and charged up fine.
Doghead relay was one of the first things I did to truck.
Alternators were doing their job just fine.
Starting was getting slower each...
It failed open.
Just like the other ones.
Gates thermostats are made in China now.
Use whatever brand part you want.
I use GM and ACDelco.
Have had excellent luck with them.
Gates also, just not the thermostats.
I have a decent sized ranch.
Keeping coyotes away from cows and...
Installed new ACDELCO 195* thermostat.
Had three Gates fail in as many months. Original Puck style.
Greased the front end and the pintle hitch.
Cleaned a lot of shell casings out from under seat.
A few less rattles at least.
