When I got my M923A1 the starter was not working. I took it off and just took it to a starter repair shop, $125 to repair it.

I will have to get it off and check it out. I hope it is a straight forward fix!! Will post some pics as I go.

I get about 7mpg with my M923A1 with 14x20's.

I have noticed that the HD motor on the hoist winch must be leaking into the gear box on the winch and over flowing out of the gearbox vent and the holes in the side of the winch drum. Does anyone know if you can replace the seal or rebuild the pump? Also who may have a new pump or know were...

I understand now!!! I was thinking about removing the engagement plate on the shifter linkage to disable the front axle lock up. Or just move it all the way to the end of the linkage. I think I saw a post that someone cut a slot in it and turned it.

Does it lock in, in reverse or low range?

I have three M939 trucks and two of them are hard to shift also.

Your pic looks like the PTO. But if it is a PTO or winch leak they are not to bad the repair, just takes a little time. Cost of parts are not to bad. Just check out the TM's and you should be fine. Good luck! :beer:

If the axle is leaking I would think the grease is washed out of the bearings. All the leaking rear axles I have seen have had the grease washed out.

Nf6x, There is not a inter axle seal like the fronts. All there is a inter and outer seal that fit on the wheel drum. Not to bad of a fix, just heavy parts!!
