I haven’t seen any at auction for quite some time now.
Wanting another one and none to be found at auction.
I know there are plenty for sale from individuals, but I prefer mine straight from Military.
GP was selling them weekly and then they slowed to a trickle and now nothing.
Anyone seen...
The surge brakes are wonderful when properly maintained.
The M101A2/3 trailers were not very well maintained by the military and can be a bit pricey to bring back to life.
The surge shock being one of the most expensive items to replace.
Money well spent as these are great trailers.
Once...
Good idea.
Will have to check it out at Harbor Freight after our ice storm passes.
Could use small Crane like that in my M101A2.
Edit.
Looked at the website
Handy item for sure
Looks like I’ll have to get one.
Which surge brake assembly?
M101A2/3 or M1101/2?
Just saw a brand new military surplus brake assembly for the M1101/2 on eBay a few days ago.
Croft Trailer usually has the prices and have excellent customer service.
They do have the best price available for the M101A2/3 assembly’s shock...
New replacements can be found.
Check the classifieds section here and if no luck, then check eBay.
Their usually on there.
New Military connectors can also be found on eBay.
Usually a SS member will have some connectors to help you out.
Congrats on the truck and welcome to SteelSoliders.
Your on borrowed time.
As mentioned, it only works for so long and then it will fail completely.
It’s telling you it needs fixed and ignoring the warning signs by still tapping on it will definitely leave you stranded at the worst possible location, in bad weather and during a time when...
Grease there would be great but I drive on dirt roads and pastures a lot and encounter lots of dust.
The spray lube works good and doesn’t collect the dirt like grease would.
If it was greased, I would end up with a clod of dirt and lots of extra wear.
When I wash the engine, I clean the...
The 6.2L couldn’t be ANY easier to work on.
My Duramax is a nightmare and parts are expensive.
I just spent $400 on new GM fuel injection preformed hoses.
Injectors alone are over $800 each.
Lower radiator hose is $350
......you get the idea.
I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but...
I just bang on hood above the latch with my fist after pulling cable.
The latch is dry and friction is holding it down.
Just a Firm smack and not trying to break my hand.
When mine does this, it’s time to relube the latch.
Then no issues until dust, etc dries it out again.
I drive my M1008A1 daily with few exceptions.
I’m 59.1 miles from the 100k milestone on it.
Gremilins gone but, of course, maintenance is never ending. As with anything mechanical.
Just back from New Mexico and turned 409k (yes, 409,000) on my stock 2006 GMC Sierra Duramax.
Only thing I’ve...
Off road tires mean 4 wheeling
Manual glow plugs mean something doesn’t work correctly (usually).
Snow Plow means abuse and salt....aka rust.
Need pics since a modified truck is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it in that condition.
The all stock trucks will always be worth...
Greased the pintle hitch shaft.
Forgot about it and have been hooked up to M101A2 almost daily.
(Have to get some gravel today with it.)
Last....and only time it was greased was when truck was first acquired.
It was very dry and has a little play in the shaft.
Hopefully no damage was done...
