Since nothing it seems is going to be done to FIX these run on forever adds , most with the OP showing NO site activity for a year or better, some with 0 post, most with a very few, SO what would happen if "BUY IT NOW" was clicked, would this get rid of this crap. The OPer joined JUST to SELL...
Just a note, I drove HndrsonJs deucs from ga to wi, doing about 55mph most of the way, it had 900s, about 8000# in the back, it got very close to 10 mpg, this was an EXCEPTIONAL running deuce, so can not say all deuces will do this.
There are a LOT of threads about using NON correct shear pins. most of the threads have BROKE in the title, also I think you will find the that !/4" mesurement is to small, will allow play which in turn will wollow out the holes
Are you saying , you have a 5t front winch on the front of a deuce, if it is it pto driven, is the drive shaft to drive the winch on the left (drivers side)or right
also Floridian ( i think how you spell it) slso has a great thread on this, the rebuild if both the valves and the cylinder
I tried search, (5t sprag and a few others) came up with a zillon sprag and everything under the sun threads, most deuce, so being that SEARCH is not my friend, maybe a...
A YEAR LATER, you got to be kidding, who knows what happened to the case in that time, I can think of a DOZEN things, at the time he got a heck of a deal ($150) for a case, you stated that you knew nothing about it, he agreed, can"t change the rules now
tell him to FORNACATE HIM SELF
Not very common, most times it is a valve or cylinder issue, a few times the sprags may get gummed up and stick, just drain the case, put diesel in, run down the road without a load, drain, one or two times ought to clean up things
I think you better find out HOW a over running clutch works, The 5t xcase IT IS made up of two OVER RUNNING CLUTCHES F/R, nothing to do with free wheeling or a "JACK KNIFE", The reason there is a forward over running clutch and a reverse over running clutch is because the SPRAG is set up to...
First try oiling the xcase air shift cylinder (take the air lines loose and put some air tool oil in, then shift back and forth), sounds like it is sticking, look for air leaks, when shifted in forward, do you hear air, if so it is leaking past the packing/rings in the xcase air shift cylinder
Not sure where you got your welding info
BECAUSE I Really don't think this will work because ,
First there are TWO sprag clutches F/R, if you weld you will lock up and break something because you WILL BE in F/R at the same time.
Second, a sprag is a OVER RUNNING clutch, only comes in when...
One thing to remember, the muliti was designed to run on diesel with the ability to run on battle field collected fuel, even straight gas. the life of the engine was SACRAFISED for BATTLE FIELD EXPEDENTCY and NEED. This design was considered necessary for the WAR IN EUROPE where the great...
