There are multiple contacts in the speed switch so not necessarily, both indicator is just an indicator and sometimes they get flaky. If you never intend to parallel the unit the reverse power relay can be fairly easily bypassed.

Welcome to the club,
Have you had the opportunity to download the manuals? Are you competent at Reading schematics?
The reverse power light I've had flicker on sometimes or come on that is only really in play if you're parallel in two sets of course you could have a bad relay causing it to...

This is the one I got it serves the purpose, my only complaint so far is the test pipe doesn't fit the injector smoothly which could just be dirty threads on the old injector
Oh I've been through the broken rib thing before that was absolutely miserable (bounced my fat ass off of interstate 4 a few times) hope you get well soon
As soon as I verify the one I bought works with these injectors I'll pass the info on I just hate to recommend something to you and find out it doesn't work
You indicated you had the starter off, I would double check the connections there. That is where the control power comes from. there is a c plug that could be the issue as well.
Make sure the circuit breaker is pressed in. Are you competent with a multi meter? Test voltage from chassis to both sides of the control breaker, should have 24 vdc both sides.

There is a lot of contention over grounding as there are way too many rules and exceptions to cover. In trade school, grounding took...
Current transformer.
I peice of electrical engineering wizardry allowing current readings without having that high current in the control cube.
Think of it as a sending unit for the angry wire pixies
Before you dig into m4 and M5 any deeper make sure the selector switch is in the correct position if the generator is set up for single phase and you're in one of the three phase positions these meters will not work
I would argue that utilizing your shops electrical service ground is far better than an independent ground rod.
Unless you have the head disconnected in a manner that will prevent it from creating power you absolutely should have it grounded while running as it is still capable of producing...
