1969 LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel)

Yeah the boat kind of stands out in a yard of green vehicles, the fact that it's beached in one spot doesn't help either. Still, I couldn't pass it up for the price. Since I sold the bridge truck I'm basically in the boat and step deck for the cost of moving them. Maybe one day I'll have the...

    ID that trailer

:ditto: You got a pretty good deal on it.

    What trailer is this? Generator?

It doesn't appear to be made from either the 3/4 ton m101 series, or from a 1/4 ton like the m416 or m762. I guess if an m101a2 and an m762 were combined it'd look kind of like that.

    What Snatch block is this?

According to my m756 notes the NSN for that block is 3940-00-151-6769. It's used with the rear winch on the truck which is the same winch found on the front of 5 ton trucks, rated at 20,000lbs. However unlike the 5 tons the pipeline trucks use 1/2" cable instead of 5/8". I'd say they're good...

    What Snatch block is this?

Looks like the ones used on the m756a2 pipeline truck.

1969 LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel)

Since I bought the LCVP I've been trying to find out how it ended up in VT. The previous owner had passed away about 2 years ago and his son didn't know where it came from, it just showed up in their yard in the mid to late 1990s. The yard that I work out of has been a military surplus yard...

scored a water buffalo at a city auction

Nice. Looks like the older m107a2 trailer with the newer stainless m149a2 tank.

    Is there a "B" Turbo?

There's also the larger turbo that showed up before the "c" or "d" turbos. My 1973 or 74 had one, I'm guessing it was used on the factory turbo trucks before the others were upgraded. It has a large dataplate on it so it's easy to identify. Since as far as I know "c" and "d" are made up names...

Deuce Hard Tops: M35A2 = M211 or not?

I'll be at the NJ show. The actual days of the show are April 21 and 22. Here's the link to the info thread. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?176026-MTA-2018-OFFICAL-SHOW-THREAD-Info-buy-Sell-trade-Talk-All-)

Deuce Hard Tops: M35A2 = M211 or not?

M211 hardtops are completely different. I wouldn’t bother trying to modify one to work, it would be too much work for me.

Lug nut size on M105A2 trailer? Anyone know off the top of their head?

Yep, it should be a 1.5" socket. Left side should have left hand threads unless someone changed something (which I've had happen). They'll probably be marked with either an L or R.

    Need 803 parts, crankshaft bolt.

I'd be surprised if mine was at more than 50 foot pounds. Left hand threads as stated. Class 12.9 Size looks to be an m16x1.50, about 30 millimeters long not counting the head.

    Need 803 parts, crankshaft bolt.

I'll try to remove the bolt from my parts generator today. How do we know it's left hand thread again? I don't want to break it by starting off the wrong way with a stuck engine. I'll look closely to see if it's marked of course.

Here’s the info in the corner: I’d scan the whole book if I could, although I’m sure most of the info is the same as the Army books.

From the 1987 USMC camoflage painting manual: I haven't seen any other reference to window covers like these so I'm not sure if they're meant to roll up like the above picture, but it's a related idea.

    Death Wobble and Weak Hazards

Welcome from Colchester. For the death wobble I'd look at the kingpins as well as the steering stabilizer. A new stabilizer on my truck seems to have stopped my deathwobble issue, I'm still planning on taking a look at the kingpins in the near future. One thing to check for the hazards is...
