The LWS legs should work fine for that. I've got a "homemade" roof rack built that way that was on an m35a2 in service. Made of angle iron and expanded metal.
I'm not big on modifications but the glow plug resistor bypass is one I like. Adding one wire and unhooking another isn't a big deal and the end result is something that works better for me. Nothing hacked, nothing that couldn't be changed back in less than 5 minutes. Saves money and the time...
Any chance it's from Van Dam's? I got this one from a friends collection and it was with some other stuff from 1989 when he bought a truck there, that's why I figured it was from Holland.
Is this the rectangular plate that says HEATER on the top and HI OFF LO on the bottom? I've got one that measures 2.25" wide by 1.5" tall. It's NOS or reproduction and I'm fairly certain it came from a dealer in Holland.
I've had no headlights due to a faulty high/low beam switch at the column, if you click the high beams a hundred times and they come on once or twice it's that. Sounds like there has been some wiring modifications done, they should just have a regular 3 blade connector on each light.
The winch works like it should. There is only 1 ramp cable still together and it's all rotten so we didn't lift the ramp very high as I'm sure it'd still hurt a bit when the cable breaks and hits ya.
Rounders Logistics charged 2k for 2 trucks from the coast of NC to VT not far from Jeff's. ADM hauling is in Southern VT and they head south once in a while, not sure how often they go by your area but it might be worth a call.
With some new alternator belts the truck's back on the road to do the heavy lifting, like this 12v71 Detroit. We also changed out the 30 year old air compressor belt while we were at it.
I see two trailers involved. There is an m101a3 on HMMWV tires posted above, and computer posted a picture of his stock m105 on deuce wheels and tires. Bolster trailer wheels are much different in offset than the dually wheels from an m35. The offset is the same as the tubeless wheels found...
How much better is your MPG with a load of tires than empty? I would have figured all that extra weight would lower the fuel mileage, unless your trip was all downhill. I googled torque contact and such but didn't find any real info, could you expand on that a bit? Thanks.
Another thing to remember is that while bolster wheels can be used to lower the trailer down they'll stick out at least a few inches on each side, so you'll probably want to add some fenders depending on your local laws. They are just right on the m103a3 welding trailers, as well as the m105a3s...
It's also very common to have 12v bulbs installed on m101a2 trailers from the military, seeing how they were built to be towed behind a CUCV with 12v trailer lights. I've also had m416s with 12v bulbs, some were stenciled with 12v on the tongue some were not. Since they were CARC green painted...
We thought the same thing until we actually started using the truck. If it wasn't our friend George's favorite deuce then it was second in line behind his m275a2. We said we'd take it because of that, because if we were going to have one it might as well be an uncommon one, and because it was...
