Here is the type of Temporary Parking Brake setup I was thinking of installing. Holding the brakes and then flipping the switch on the dash would activate the valve which holds pressure in the lines. Easy to use and would allow the operator to winch without...
If it's a military hard top then it is removable. You'll have quite a few bolt holes to weld up, but that typically would be the least of the welding needed on an m151. The hardtops themselves aren't a real sought after item, some people give them away.
The value of the truck itself is hard...
Could you post a couple pictures of your truck? Sounds interesting.
There are a few people on the site restoring gasser deuces that might have an interest in your 331. It probably won't bring a ton of cash but I'm sure someone would pick it up.
Welcome to the site.
I've had a problem with a truck that wouldn't reverse after the parking brake was on, it just needed to be adjusted. It would go forward fine but not reverse.
At 8 degrees Fahrenheit the other day the pipeline truck fired right up just like in the summertime.:D We definitely need to add a heater kit, it's hard to work the winch when the rear window is frozen shut.:x
The rear winch worked great for the easy task of winching a couple m135 deuces onto...
The gladhands on the front can be used to activate the brakes when towing the truck. The weight of an m51a2 is about 22,000lbs (without winch), and 22,700lbs (with winch), I would not attempt to towbar one with a deuce unless it was an emergency. They are quite common to find with a multifuel...
Originally the m1009 was listed with a towing capacity of 3000lbs, and listed to tow the m101 series trailers.
m101a2
The later editions of the TM say only m416 trailers should be towed with the m1009. I've never seen an official document with the reason, but most people here on SS say it's...
:ditto: m1009 with an m105a2.
If your blazer still has the stock hitch setup then any standard pintle will bolt on. However it is rated only for a light trailer.
I've got an 8ft fisher plow on my m1028 so I can't comment on the Western or Meyer. I put the truck together for cheap just to plow the yard and 2 other driveways, and this setup was the cheapest I could find. You'll definitely want some weight in the back, it will get real sketchy with an...
I thought all of the m39a2 series trucks had the non-overdrive transmission stock (along with the gasser m39s), with only the Mack powered m39a1 trucks having overdrive.
The tractor probably won't end up leaving the yard under it's own power, it's pretty much all apart now. Since all the sheet metal needed to be replaced we removed it all as well as the engine/transmission. The front axle was sold to help offset the cost of it. While it could be put back...
5 or so years ago when I had a bad alternator in my m1009 a friend of mine gave me a replacement that he took out of his pickup. It was working fine, the reason he took it out was the Gen2 light in the truck would never go out. He changed it for another one which fixed the problem. I replaced...
Thanks. I pretty sure there's still a complete m59 a couple hundred miles away from me that I could look at it person. If one of you guys would be able to just post some close up shots of the cab protector to show how it's constructed that would be a big help. I'm in absolutely no rush! I...
Yep, I've got a wanted ad in the classifieds for either. It also looks like an m342 cab protector would bolt on pretty easily, it's a different style but I'd live with it.
According to the pictures in the TMs it looks like the m215 cab protector might be slightly taller than the m59, I...
The m275a2 donor truck is now all apart. The quarter fenders are exactly the same, and the holes are already there to fit either tractor or dump truck brackets. They're also the same left side and right side. We also drained and removed the a2 fuel tank from the tractor. It was half full of...
