I've got one cab corner welded on. I also installed stainless steel brake lines for the rear axle, and an NOS proportioning valve. Hopefully I'll have it running again in the next week.
I've read that as well, but it's not true. My CUCV II was black from the factory, others are a teal type green. I don't think I've seen one yet that was originally white.
That is a nice looking Tahoe though:).
The m103 generator trailers use a similar, but larger cover than the m116 trailers. I'm not 100% sure, but it is very likely that is what your cover fits.
Today I finished welding the frame for the crane and drilled the mounting holes and bolted it to the truck frame. I put the crane on to see what it will have for reach. Tomorrow, I'll prime and paint the frame and bolt it on for good.
The bed should sit right over it if I made it right.
Lately I've cleaned up some of the frame and rear axle and installed new rear brake shoes, seals, and parking brake cables. I pulled the fuel tank, cleaned it up and painted it. The crane also showed up, I've almost got the frame done to attach it.
Earlier trailers had different covers, most a3 trailers (that I've seen) have that style cover. As far as a replacement, its a standard part used in civilian applications.
I am going to build a frame for it using square tube attached to both frame rails. I'll post about it when I get it done which won't be for awhile since it's backordered for at least a couple weeks.
Yesterday I picked up some GM doors, inner and outer fenders, the radiator support and a couple other pieces. I also ordered a Vestil WTJ-4 bed crane for the m1028.
It probably won't fit where the military plug is due to the length (it will hit the pintle support behind it). I have my 7 blade connector just to the right of the military connector.
