    New M1008 with Headlight issues

    Welcome from VT. Nice truck!

Motor nearly cutting out while driving.

    Start with the fuel filters.

    changing tires on the rear

Like Castle Bravo says in the last post, I always turn the geared wrench the way I would turn a regular lug wrench. Not sure why PS magazine says to turn the opposite way, but that doesn't work for me.

What make and model truck is this?

Looks like an m35a2c. Here is an article that you can use to find out more. http://www.militarytrader.com/military-vehicles-news/deciphering_the_codes_kaiser-jeep_and_am_general_2_12-ton_truck_production

    Issues with my New Truck.

That is the glow plug resistor. It's possible it has been bypassed, is there a wire running from the relay to the 12v buss bar on the firewall? Like pictured in post #4 of this thread. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?121398-GP-Resistor-Bank-Bypass

    Starter

It should bolt up if you already have a gear reduction starter. If you currently have a direct drive starter you will need to get the different support bracket for the gear reduction starter. Other than that it will work, but don't expect one of the cheap gear reduction starters to last too long.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

It was used as a brush truck, then returned to the forest service lot. It had a small water tank in the back that was removed. A lot of the stuff up there gets used, then they'll take the bed off and put it on another truck. The 5 ton has a nice m939 bed on it, I'm sure the m939 has the bed/...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Thursday evening Black Ops, Fredo Corleone, and myself drove to Bangor, Maine to pick up my latest deuce. We stayed at a hotel for the night and got to the yard on Friday morning. The truck's hiding behind the Mack five ton at the top of the hill. Got in and flipped on the power and it...

New M101a2 and I need help with Pintle

The pintle should work fine, don't worry about the height either. The tire looks like it might be close, but that's easy enough to move for the trip home.

Odd trailer seen in ad - what is this beast?

Looks like an m149 water buffalo variant.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Today I used the crane on the m1028 to lift a mep-701a off of a small utility trailer. The electric winch works good; the truck does squat quite a bit with over 500lbs on the hook. I still need to run wiring for it, and I am planning on building a stiff leg jack for that corner of the truck...

Reworking Deuce spring seat into an air ride seat.

The air bag was chosen because it was cheap and looked like it would work, not because of its specifications.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If you find it, let me know! I'm not sure if I'll install it on a truck. Since I like the pickup bed on mine I'll have to get another truck to put it on, maybe a SRW m1028.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Here's a pic of a better data plate.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It has both dataplates on the door. The dimensions data plate is faded, a friend of mine locally has one as well with a nice dimensions plate on it. I think I have a picture of it. I've seen 3 of these boxes total. 2 of them came from the local base, I remember seeing one of them on a truck...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yesterday and today I put the m1028 to work. Originally I set out on a local trip to pick up a CUCV shelter/van body with a van towing my trailer. The van had fuel problems, so I went home and got the m1028 and towed it back. Today I went out and picked up the shelter. It's designed to go...
