I'm running the stock size tires, 235-85-16, I was able to run 65-70 no problem. It seems to get the best fuel mileage around 55, although at 60 it handles the hills better.
5 or so years ago I aquired a 700R4 from a mid 80's 6.2 1/2 ton 4x4 chevy pu. I grabbed all the brackets and shift indicator for a complete kit. At the time my intention was to install it in my since sold M1031 shop truck. Funding and the extra work involved with the NP205 w/pto setup stalled...
The above mentioned aviation system is the way to go, you can run it off a 9v battery or 12/24 volt vehicle power, plug your external audio source into it, and the headsets are the most comfortable of them all. No switches to push to talk, just talk, and they are noise canceling as well.
Mine seems to work better when the temp switch is toggled to low, might try that. Also check to see if your indicator bulb is working, won't affect it starting but lets you know when it does.
Part of the "Underbody corrosion repair kit", I have installed a few of the kits and they are nice. Tough to find now, there is a vendor here selling M151 sheet metal, he may have or can make them.
Replaced my harmonic balancer on the M1010 today using the 2291 tool and the Keith_J method, was super slick. This inexpensive tool will remove and install it.
I have the frame rails NOS, they are both LH side but all you have to do is remove one bracket and flip it to make it work on the other side. $75 each delivered to Weare. I will be in row C booth 1/2.
The 12v fusible link can be bad and still show 12v, but as soon as a load is applied it will fail. There is just enough of a connection to show voltage but it won't carry any current. It may have been able to carry enough current after it cooled off. I would replace the main 12v link.
