Thanks guy's I fixed it. I took off the door panel and found the bracket laying down at the bottom of the door. Someone must have taken it off and forgot about it. Then they just ran ah random bolt and nut through the bottom hole of the mirror base. Here's ah pic of what the bracket looks like...
Yeah the pop-up top is what drew me to it. I've searching for weeks for one of these but with no luck. Probably do to the fact that I don't know the model number or name of the box.
When I'm driving down the highway the drivers, side view mirror shakes up and down. All the bolts are tight , I think it's the door skin it's self. Does anybody have an ingenious way of how to fix this?
Good idea, all though I would have just welded ah bolt. Just buy 5 bolts when your at the store and stick one in a marked sandwich bag, and throw it in the glove box. Or better yet drill an another hole in the plate for the extra bolt with ah nut on the other end.
It looks factory made to me, not some bubba mod. Whoever made it designed it to bolt quickly to the front of any CUCV using J-hooks. My moneys on tire carrier.
I bought all ACdelco parts for mine here's the link I got my part numbers from...http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/catalog/catalog_search.php My M1028 used calipers #18FR651, & #18FR652
Most people have never heard of these trucks, much less would drive such a truck with no O.D., A.C., or all the other modern amenities for that price. And the narrow audience of guy's that would drive ah truck like these, is the type of guy that would build one himself. I would suggest trying...
I like this ,it really looks good. I just think why go through all the trouble of making it removable if it doesn't ALSO fit the rear? It would make it twice as useful yah know?
Yeah that's ah lot of flex if the roof is twisting. Agree, check or just weld up some of those cross members if you can. Also I've heard of guy's boxing in the frame from the front suspension back to past the back of the cab on the pickup trucks. I'm sure something like that would take ah bunch...
Could just be the rubber body mounts aren't , well, as rubbery as they used to be. And just got ah little clocked and staid there. Check those mounts while your under there. Mite be ah good time to replace them yah know.
Well, I'd pull the shaft so you can inspect it better (eyeball down the length of it), (roll it on a flat surface). Then maybe put ah straight edge on it, over the ears to see if one or both ears could be bent. If not I'd remove the joint from the shaft (Using a vise or a press) and inspect it...
Well again I'm new to the whole diesel thing, but I've learned over the years of making crappy cars run against their will, that sometimes the simplest answers are the best solutions. If bleeding the filter makes a difference then I'd say your problem lies with it. Is it still the original style...
How did you install the joint into the driveshaft? Did you press it in, or smack it with ah hammer? You may want to check to see if it's seated into the shaft evenly, or if one of the shaft ears bent when you were installing it.
Wow! I normally don't like custom bumpers on these trucks but that thing is sick! Where did you find this? I would definitely figure out how to attach the brush guard though.
Installed ah set of (Carr super hoop steps) today. Not bad, I had to grind ah little off the back of the rear drivers side bracket. And also indent the fuel tank ah little with ah 2"X4" and crow bar to get it in between the fuel tank and rocker panel. Once that was done the only way to attach it...
