I posted some of these pictures the other day in another thread so I will start over . I started to dismount a tire and wheel I picked up last year and seen the split ring not locked in the grove of the wheel this tire had 35 psi in it . I thought maybe this tire went flat and the ring was bent...
I pulled this tire and wheel out of storage and started to let the air out to take it apart and noticed the ring not seated by the valve stem .the tire had 35psi . This tire could come apart at any time .
I bought lots of parts from Memphis . I try to have parts before I start a project but when I need to order parts after it is torn down . Memphis is great they do ship the same day no waiting for parts A+
The sprag is used for forward only . for reverse the transfer case the lower shift rail is pulled out to lock it in 6x6 but with wear the linkage needs to pull it out more then the mechanical linkage will let it move . it is like it needs to be pulled out 2 inches but the linkage will only pull...
Let us know how big of a press it takes to press them in I have spent enough on having a shop press the old ones out and put the new ones in I could have a really big press of my own . I think the bushing to push them out needs to be close to 4 1/16 in diameter . kenny
I cleaned off all the surfaces and used some rubber cement to help hold it together next time I will try weather stripping adhesive it should hold better then the rubber cement . kenny
Jeff I looked for some sleeves and only found some for a 235 they are to small . the sleeves for the 302 are 1 3/4 outside od and 3/8 to 7/16 wide they are split and springy to hold them in place . I have never made any of these before but you maybe able to use a large stainless hose...
when you had the intake off the head where the three sleeves that fit in the head and intake there ? with out these rings air can get pulled in there also .
