According to this lab report, the C turbo gives the LDT-465 17 more horsepower over the non-turbo model. That would suggest there's a real power increase relationship with having a turbo.

I found some relevant information in the attached lubricant fleet study, there's nothing I think this thread has missed, but it does document the differences in a nice little summary. There might be other details of interest in the study of wear on the various engine components in the report...
Yep, others have used RTV on the keyways, I personally have used black RTV on two and it works. I'd also suggest degreasing the keyway with brake cleaner and Q-tips before applying the RTV.
Any forward progress?
Don't overlook the turn-signal controller on the steering wheel. On mine it looked like the previous owner/guard unit had fuddled with it. The copper on several wires were exposed near the connector, one of which had been pulled completely free, also several of the wires...
Hello from Southern Maine! I've hiked to the top of Goose Eye Mountain, I think that's the closest I've been to Berlin. Also been through Grafton Notch and up and down Old Speck a few times--beautiful area!
I feel your pain, mine came home around Christmas 09 as well. What helped a lot was setting a Memorial Day deadline so the exterior would be presentable for the parades. Now I'm catching up on the interior work.
Yep, there's a few of us who received a truck from the government without a relay. Installing one is not on my high priority list but I keep some wire and a heavier duty switch on hand just in case something burns out.

ENGINE OILS IN U.S. ARMY DIESEL ENGINES
Report Date May 1981
Interesting find, they tested a variety of oils and simulated a 20K mile/210 hour workload on LD/LDT-465s. I had to split up the PDF to keep it under the upload limit. A lot of it is...
I like reading M109 threads, but after a good year working on mine I've come to realization its like "Painting the Bridge". Its a full time job and it'll never be finished!
Best of luck on your project!
I've used two methods to defeat the low-air-buzzer while troubleshooting start-ups:
1) Back-fill the air system with an external air compressor.
2) Temporarily unplug the buzzer from the T-connector under the dash.
Great video. Looks like they leak like a deuce! :)
I was always fascinated that the Soviets had the gall to reverse engineer the ones that were forced to land in the USSR. They even re-engineered the same engine fire problem.
Welcome to SS! I just drove my deuce about 15 miles from Somersworth this morning, I went down to Wells to pick up a ton of compressed sawdust bricks to burn in my woodstove this winter.
Lots of good resources here, make use of the search function and download the TMs for reading and you'll be...
My personal feeling is to avoid WD-40 for this since it doesn't have the greatest lubricant properties. Air tool oil should be available at any Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply etc. Others have used Marvel Mystery Oil.
If you absolutely need to "spray it in" I would suggest "Rem...
