If truck #333 is like #334, then it won't have a starter relay. My starter button was unreliable until I disconnected it from the dash and needled the female contacts back into position to better connect with the two male prongs.
I noticed the broken tie down hook on the van box, mine was...
Outstanding! Those guys need to call in sick today (Wink Wink) They deserve it!
I had the honor of looking under the hood of Phil's truck back in March at the Tampa-Bay Get-Together--That is one fine machine! (And Operator!)
LOL! I've seen those unit markings before! Our 109s must have been parked next to each other! :D
Good luck on the return trip down South, Gentlemen!
Edit: I was going to suggest Grandpa's if you ran into hardware issues, Great Store! They sell guns too.
Here's what I used to replace mine, the length is pretty close.
NAPA Armored Wrap Brake Lines:
51" BK 8131198
30" BK 8131196
I think if I did it again tho I'd try the hand bendable Poly-Armour lines.
God Speed Gentlemen! I'll be monitoring this thread.
I'll text you my SIL's phone number, she lives just outside the base and may be able lend some local assistance. I wouldn't trust her to do anything mechanical tho.
Sounds like there's no easy way to get jumper cables to the batteries?
Then I suggest disconnecting the batteries and remove the battery tray (recommend two people). Take that home and charge it with a 12 volt charger, one battery at a time.
Check the rubber hose fuel line in the fuel pump sending unit. If the line is cracked, or if the hose ends are buggered by the clamps, it could be loosing prime and leaking fuel under pressure.
My 109 starts a lot better cold after replacing the hose and clamps.
Edit: I almost forgot...
I did the adjustments all from underneath, you'll want a second person in the cab to shift the gears while you're underneath checking for linkage movement.
Before doing the wheel test, drive your deuce around and get the transfer case up to operating temperature. I believe this is printed in...
Less than two months ago I had a starting solenoid stick together while turning the engine over for a pre-flight hydrostatic lock test. That was not a fun feeling....I had to jump out of the cab and yank the dogbone cable between the batteries to get the starter to shut down. After that...
Rebuilt sprags were going into A2 trucks at least 20 years after the A2 was introduced, I'd say just the engine would be positively different based on what I've learned about my truck and reading the older TMs.
Increase your idle to 800RPM using the hand throttle and see how that goes, I'd replace the filters regardless of the material.
Interesting (to me), your fuel pump fuse housing appears to have brass contact screws. Mine came with rusty steel screws, which I replaced with brass. Guess I was on...
Nice classic, mine looked alot like that and was rebuilt the same place around 5/88. They must have been built from the same pool of parts.
One question I have is, did the trucks usually go back to the same unit after the rebuild process? Carnac's record for my truck was from 1981 which...
I just have experience pulling the 101A2 with the 42RLE in my Jeep TJ. The recovery return trip was 450 miles one day (empty) with the OD switch in the off position, no ill effects. Jeeps with the 42RLE have 3.73 gearing.
You may want to verify with your transmission shop that they put the...
Harold, does your Dakota have the 42RLE Transmission? Were you towing with overdrive on or off?
One thing I always do after plowing snow is to let the truck idle for 10-15 minutes to circulate the tranny fluid through the coolers to cool it down. I imagine the same would help with heavy...
Nuts, the wife is dragging me to Philly that weekend to attend her cousin's wedding whom I don't know...this is a terrible injustice!
I did pass on the info to another truck enthusiast at work, he's been there before and agrees its a great show.
Welcome to Maine as SS!
At the Maine Rally last month both commercial and antique registered deuces were present.
You'll be dealing with the BMV in Maine for your license, registration, etc. DOT just take care of the roads and bridges. My BMV experience was good. Note, you only need a...
