having driven these things in the army, i can attest they can and do carry more than theyre rated for. is it gonna get there fast? no. is the thing gonna run like **** after towing alot? probably. i fried a 925 motor dragging a fmtv uparmored tractor fifty miles in 110 degree heat. it was the...
man if the old lady would let me go over there id love to do that job. we used to escort/ run security for 377 het back in 05. big and slow, the trailer tires were always gettin flattened. our gun truck ( a 925) took a dump on us one night, and i got to gun all the way up on the trailer. gave...
i also was thinking aboot this set up. a 7.3 and an allison 5 speed in a bobbed deuce would be a nice setup. you could go the ford route or find an old roll back tow truck with the auto( dont know what the trans is though) and rob it outta that. an idi with a turbo on it would be good too
we used blocks of wood that were smaller than the rim, put the rim/tire combo on it and used a sledge hammer and hit the tire until it basicly just fell off the rim
not sure if it was said yet, but if youre driving a vehicle with air brake, then you need a cdl. i know the deuce is air over hydraulic and doesnt require a cdl. not being familiar with older 5 tons (drove 900 series in army, which are all air) if theyre all air, then you need a cdl, regardless...
hey driver, thanks for the pics. oh the memories.
we were a 5 ton company, 923's and such. rolled outta kuwait with the steel door "uparmor". amazingly, nothing happened for the month or so that we did missions like that. then, we aquired some steel boxes for the beds. made me feel a little...
theres a company up here in the pnw called power punch. basically the same thing. im surprised noones said this yet. as this stuff is really thick and sticky, plan to devote a good half hour to an hour lettin this stuff ooze into an engine. dumped a few in others otr trucks, and a "carberator"...
take that thing off, turn this thing, then turn another, then put 1st thing back on. sorry, just had too. search for it on the search engine or go to deuce hotroddin section and look for it. might take awhile tho. if i knew how to do the "click on a link" feature, i would. sorry
ya, make friends with your local ma and pa diesel shop. not the t/a sown by the freeway. get to know them, let em work on your rig a few times, then ask the owner/shop foreman if he can turn or put a different button (for the cummins) in yer pump. under the table of course
