If you can still find a set of these yokohama Geolandar MTs, they are great tires. Quiet. Cheap. Great traction. Have a similar look to the Michelin XL military tires
My M1009 has a decidedly oversized filler neck and cap. I am under the impression that they were CUCV specific. You may have a civilian filler/tank/bed retrofit?
I think everyone likes the cool big filler...but where the OP is located, fuel theft is a big problem. I'm sure the fuel thieves love the big unrestricted filler too.
Eh...that's a pretty conservative range of temps. You are definitely correct in that you wont' damage anything if you can maintain those.
trans temps same as engine temp...~195*...is pretty average. The "perfesser" of transmissions at GM Tech Institute (1987) told us that the seals and O-rings...
The results of the floor covering are in...
Huge decrease in interior racket and heat transfer.
I can hear the engine through the open window... not through my feet into my skull.
Also, no more heat radiating up from below when not wanted.

I just got these two books. Lots of good stuff covering pump tuning and stuff.
I just happened to have mine out.
It is indeed a 12x1.75x35mm with a hex head 22mm(7/8")
They are, however, slightly swaged into a triangular cross section that acts to lock them in place.
It may well be a common "seat belt bolt"
You might want to use locktite on any non-swaged replacements
I just got one roll of each as I was most interested in covering the front footwell that droned horrendously and the heat from the tunnel.
I layed the thinner peel and seal strips on the outer areas of the footwell. Three strips on each side used that whole roll.
I layed the thicker duct foam...
While everyone else is freezing, today was up to 79 and a good day to try to install the LMC truck vinyl floor kit I got for Christmas.
Between the heat
and the droning of the floorboards, I also layed in some poor mans dyna-mat.
One roll each $17 and $19 respectively from lowes.
This was...
I wish they made a rectangular version of this light with the faceted lens...
The ones that I see on the market look cheese-ball. These are the only LED headlights that I like the look of.
I'm not a big fan of the look, or the cost of the trucklites.
I went with Autopal E-code Cibie knockoffs and a cheap relay conversion harness.
Not quite $50 total investment and huge improvements.
I just got a set of dormans finest as recommended by cucvrus.
I got them from summit racing. Part numbers 625-154 @$26.97 and 625-155 @$24.97
I'll see how they fit one of these next few weekends
Finally ran my new cold air setup(mil spec(?) AC filter w/pre-filter) on a thunder run down I-10 going to work yesterday. It "seemed" to make much better power past 55MPH. The best it ever did was 60 at the merge of a long uphill entrance ramp. Yesterday it was up to 70 and still gittin it...
Motor mounts were the first priority as the lift pump and lines were resting on the frame.
The bushings are next. Just got the last parts.
Body mounts are in surprisingly decent shape. Still pliable and rides nice,
The sway bars are holding their own. Definitely at the end of...
The Air Inlet Tube(snorkel hose) Isn't necessary but its a good thing to have.
Power and efficiency and all that...
The factory unit for the civilian trucks has a large, restrictive looking "silencer" chamber that is mainly for Federal noise emissions and owner noise objections. I'd be willing...
