I remembered the local forestry station had a M1008 in the yard so I stopped by there today and measured theirs, it was 54" from cap center to center. The one I have appears to be too short and I will have to find the correct length one still. Mark

I measured mine at 51" form cap center to center. Perhaps your driveshaft came from a truck equipped with a NP205 transfer as used in other models of the CUCV which uses the longer shaft. I would like to confirm with someone with a stock M1008 to measure theirs to make sure. Thanks

Hard to tell from the limited pictures but the first thing that stick out is the windshield is a civvy 2A windshield, M38 is one piece with a vent in the lower center. You should post this on G503.com under the M38 section.

Big thanks to Ethan(builder77)who stepped up to the plate and inspected my recent M1008 win at richmond, VA. The bad, driveshaft, and driver door damaged from forklift, door only opens 10" or so, no starter circuit and relay sitting in seat. The good, jumped relay connection and starter works...
