The pump inside the right door (as facing from the fuel filler) is the main fuel pump. The AUX pump is under the cover on the end that goes over the fuel filler for the tank. That AUX pump doesn't send fuel to the engine. It only draws fuel from the port next to the fuel fill and sends it to the...
How long have you let it go in the PRIME/RUN switch position before you started it?
Can you hear the fuel pump run? Does it sound even or does the sound change a lot? Can you shoot a video of the fuel pump so we can hear how it sounds?
It does sound like air or it could be a problem with the...
Grounding an unknown piece of generation equipment is a must in my book.
Edit: +1 on the no idle. Never let them idle. Like never. Its full speed or bust.
There is an extra port on the water pump on the MEP80x that I'm considering piping over to a HEX for heat recovery. I recently put in a solar hot water setup for domestic hot water and I could tap that loop. When the generator is running it could provide hot water for the house.
Secondly for...
You have to adapt them. I used a 5/16 JIC to 1/4 NPTF then a 1/4 NPTM to 1/4 flare.
The hose in the photo was the first one I made and mistakenly I bought a 3/8 NPTM to 1/4 flare which was wrong but I made it work with a bit of epoxy. The hoses I've made since use the correct fittings with no...
Has anyone done any experiments on heat recovery systems with a MEP?
I'm considering putting together a HEX setup that would fit on a 80x series and a heat pipe arrangement that could be used on a 80x or 00x series.
This could be useful for domestic water heating and/or space heating.
In addition to the great feedback from Chainbreaker, it would be beneficial to start the recording before you start the engine so we can see how it starts. A more stable video will be very helpful. Pick a spot and leave the camera there. That is important for the sound. The sound can help...
The hose linked below is a little smaller than a normal AUX fuel hose. It fits down the filler neck of my F350 a LOT easier. Its also cheap. PVC is no problem with diesel fuel. If you want to spend $2 more you can get the braided SS one. I like seeing the fuel inside the regular one. A NPT to...
It doesnt need to higher. I ordered the fitting on Amazon and use long fridge icemaker hose for the fuel line. Works like a champ and the materials are diesel safe. And inexpensive.
Oh yea, I have a merit badge in JB Weld.
The plan is to use a strip of aluminum stock on the back to bridge the cracks and give it some strength. Overkill I know but thats how it goes with me.
Being on a trailer won't matter. A ground rod isn't mandatory but good to do. As long as you are using a 4 wire cable you will remove the bonding strap at the generator.
