Hey, I remember mentioning that. :D
Glad you got it sorted. With the one I'm working on now I had an intermittent speed control problem. It would run perfectly then just go crazy. It turned out to be a loose screw on a the back of a switch. I had gone through and tugged on everything but in...
+1 on mobile home cable. That will be the low cost option.
A reverse power relay interlocked to the main breaker on the panel should do it. Assuming you could get the local utility and inspector to sign off on it since it would be an unusual setup for a residential environment. BUT as you...
I am going to drop in a pair of those batteries and see how it works. I went out this morning and started it for kicks. It took 3 pulls f it to light off. Easier than my push mower. Maybe I should put a yanmar diesel on that!?
I just went through the batteries on Yuasa's battery chart and it looks like a pair of YTX20L-BS is the largest battery that will fit.
Dimensions: 6.875" x 3.4375" x 6.125"
The battery reference doesn't include many of the motorcycle batteries. So far one of the best fits I've found is for the one I posted the link from Amazon. I may go ahead and order a set of those and see how they work.
It is just a tad over that, I'd call it 7-3/8ths. The battery fits snug enough that once you put it in there it won't fall off.
I found a drawing for the battery that has the exact dimensions. I also found a reference source that has a lot of battery sizing info. I'm looking through that to...
I have the MEP003 mounted on a M116 now. After doing some measurements I'm thinking about adding rails to the front of the trailer to hold the MEP831 and sliding the MEP003 back enough rebalance the weight. It looks like if I bring the MEP831 forward about 12" that I'll have room between the...
Absolutely. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/
I've had great service from them. They are popular with the Ford Diesel folks (I'm a member of that freak show as well).
The battery is smaller than I expected. I went to WalMart yesterday and test fit a number of batteries. I could get pretty close but I didn't find a combination I really liked.
I'm thinking about a pair of these -...
If you decide to run the oil for longer intervals its worth it to pull a samples and have them analyzed to best know how long you can go.
I've used blackstone and my local Gregory Poole lab. Blackstone does a better job offering info about the analysis.
If I was working under a schedule I would for sure do that. Since I'm unemployed and otherwise bored, tinkering on the generator the last couple of days has been a welcome project to concentrate on.
I really appreciate all the great info.
Do you know of any trouble spots to keep an eye on...
Thats a good idea. I can use Visio to lay it out. Some rough measurements suggest that the length of the two will be a little too much. I may end up buying a basic utility trailer to mount the 831.
Very nice. I have several friends asking me if I decided to keep it or not. :)
The connector parts will be here on Saturday. I'll get that switched out next week.
Dewie, If the fuel sender turns out to be bad what are your thoughts on where to get one?
I found all the part numbers in a catalog and it looks like it I will be fine with either part number for the pins. The ones I ordered went down to 14 gauge wire where the number you have goes down to 16 gauge. The rest of the specs are the same.
