Ok, I am an official lurker today after I noticed how many pages this thread has AND upon investigation I find out the truck is a COE!!. I LOVE old COE's!!! and one day I will own and old COE. I want to make a car hauler out of one.
I would bet that it is leaking while the engine is running as well but you just can't hear it. I had a similar situation and it was the treadle valve. The lower half of the treadle valve is connected to the secondary air if I remember correctly. Try and listen down around the brake pedal when...
Update 5/29/14 - I found a transportation Co. out of Hot Springs, MT to deliver the truck. They will pick it up next week. They will use a step deck trailer and have ramps so I will not need a wrecker to help unload. It turns out the owner has a 5 ton so he is familiar with them. I found him...
Yes I have and I think it can be unloaded right by his house but it would be better if I can find a loading ramp somewhere in town. If not it is going to cost me a lot more. Do you know of any loading ramps in Missoula I could use?
I wish I had a better idea of the timeframe. I am going to post it in UShip to go in the next 2 weeks and see what comes up. I want to store it at my BIL's house which is just off Mullan Rd about 3 miles West of Reserve St. Depending on what type of trailer it ships on, I may have to take off...
I appreciate the suggestions. I looked up the nearest MV club and it is in Bozeman which is about 3 1/2 hours away and I didn't see any 5 tons listed in their list of MV's. I am mainly concerned about the startup and driving to my BIL's house. It shouldn't be a very log drive, maybe a couple of...
Ok I finally got around to replacing the treadle valve that has solved the problem. I no longer hear any air leaking into the intake stack when I turn the truck off. Thanks to Castle Bravo for his used treadle valve.
Are there any SteelSoldiers members in or near Missoula Montana that would be willing to help unload an M923A2 off a truck and drive it to a residence in Missoula sometime in late May or June?
I had the same symptoms with my primer pump. It was leaking out of the hand pump and I was losing prime immediately after shut off. I purchased a new pump from a Cummins dealer in Houston and ever since the engine starts in under 1 revolution. The removal and install was very straight forward. I...
I Super glued the stitching on my soft top to make it last a little longer.
I titled and registered my truck as an FMV. It took about an hour and the clerk did need to call Austin. I was able to use the last 7 digits of my bumper number as my license number. I am now legal to drive in Texas. Yahoo!
It is leaking all the time but I just can't hear it when engine is running. The compressor kicks in every few minutes while the engine is running. The pressure stays between 105 and 120 which I think is about normal.
I have an air leak that I can hear in the intake pipe when the truck is shut off. I think I have tracked it down to the brake pedal valve. When I use my stethoscope I can hear air leaking though the bottom air line that goes in to the valve. I tried adjusting the pedal height but that did not...
I will have to come visit you this summer in my 5 ton. I have a place near Polson and will be moving my truck there sometime this spring/summer (I hope). Plains isn't too far away. I am looking forward to driving my truck off road up there.
Thanks everyone for their input. I may look into the container angle since my neighbor is in that business but will start getting quotes on trucking my MV to Montana.
