Im a 25+years crankshaft grinder of Hapco Crankshaft. I repair the noses of crankshafts all the time.I can repair the nose and clean and polish the crank for about $125.00.Just take the crank out and UPS it to me.
You cant blame the seller,he can ask what ever he wants for it.Its up to you what your willing to pay for it.To me that thing aint worth the scrap to haul it away, my 2cents.

I had the same problem except its my tranfer case.Went to change the fluid and the magnet was full of metal pieces.In about 2 weeks Im going to drain it and filter it,see what else the magnet gets.
