As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Besides, the IHC fits (barely) in my garage, while a deuce or 5 ton wouldn't even be close.
Edit - here it is in the garage, and a pic of what I plan on having it look like when restoration is done:
Update - I found the full size version of the Olive Drab photo, plus another pic of a '44 K-8 that's in England:

(sorry, I can't upload them to SS)...
I was looking over at Olive Drab at some of the trucks used in early WWII and noticed the International K-8 cargo truck. Does anyone have any more info on military IHC K-series trucks (the description says the K-8 was "one of many...International...trucks.")? I have a '49 KBS-6 (2 and a half...
What's wrong with expanding the knowledge base? Yeah, I can't afford one now (or anytime soon in my current position), but I'm all about big trucks - the bigger the better. When my wife suggested I get a "play" truck to fix up, I quickly was shot down on a deuce or 5 ton until we move outside of...
Any idea what he wants for them? Condition? You're in Alabama, so that leads to:
Yeah. Shipping a 10-ton 1300 miles just sounds expensive.
Well, I did say I'd be interested after I win the lottery (of course, I should really start playing if I plan on winning any time soon...) - that way...
Thanks for the links! I realize that they are very impractical, but isn't that half the point? And yeah, shows would be the only thing I would use one for.
Can someone direct me to info on these beasts? I've only seen one M123 for sale (in my limited time here) - are they pretty rare? Value? Oshkosh has some of the newer heavy trucks (8, 14, 20 and 22.5 ton tractors), but none of the older ones, which look way better than the new. I'd love to learn...
Yeah, that's what I meant - private hands. Like I said, some of the "forbidden" trucks have reached private hands, but MRAP's likely will might never get the chance. Too bad - seems like something I need to commute to work every day with
I'll follow up with my dumb MRAP question then (being new to MV's) - have any gotten loose to date? Obviously even the elusive Gama Goat, M151 and HMMWV have had a few get out...
I did get air brakes when I got my Class B (school buses have air brakes). So, you're saying that since I already have that, I can take the Class A test without air brakes? In a big pick-up and trailer?
"Buddy" would be an exaggeration. Heck, I'd say he's an acquaintance at best (although I know his kids a bit better). Look at the link - the cost is for truck lease to practice for 2 hours and then take the test with - not a fee to take the test...
Well, I did pass the Class B road test on the first try...
In all seriousness, that is my biggest concern - paying the initial $460 and failing the test. I need to call a guy here in town that I know who owns a trucking business and ask his opinion.
Just heard of this place - anyone have an opinion?
Minnesota CDL Truck Road Test And Testing- Class A Leasing
Is two hours enough to learn backing? For less than $500, sounds like a decent deal, but if I fail the first time, I can see it getting expensive quickly...
Hey, I'm looking to upgrade my licence from a Class B CDL to a Class A and looking for help. I got my B through the local school district training me to be a bus driver, and now would like to get the A. I know I need to pass the written tests first, get my permit, then start training. This is...
Not really near me, but it's ~ 30 miles from my Mother-In-Law in Traverse City... I'd say it'd be well worth a drive next time we take a drive that way. Good info!
