I am interested in getting some 33" tires for my stock M1009. I have been through several old threads and it sounds like 10.5 tires on stock rims will clear and 12.5 tires on stock rims might require some fender trimming.
If you have/had 33" tires on a M1009 (stock rims), could you answer...
I can confirm that 15.5s and 395s will rub a few of the bed crossmembers and maybe the underside of the deuce bed during extreme articulation and when loaded to the max. I did it once with 5+ tons in the bed. However, I expect that 99.5% of use will not result in any problems. In the pic...
Mileage from Hesperia, CA to Fort Meyers, FL is about 2,600. If you can ship a deuce that far for less than $5000 I want to hear about it. Sharing a load like Bruce suggests would be a good idea, except ND and MD aren't exactly on the way from Southern CA to Southern FL. If you have a week to...
The M172 will work fine with the M818. See pics below. I think these are both members here on SS. Whether or not the M172 is the "best" trailer depends on your application. How do you intend to use and what will you be hauling? The M172 is proably the most heavy duty trailer you can pull...
RE: Savannah to Atlanta 3x - $2,400 (yes there
If you can get a licensed carrier to haul it for $800 per trip, you should take that deal and run. Keep in mind it would only be 2 trips in a commerical rig to haul the 86,000. Better fuel mileage too.
Looks great! :driver:
That ford is impressive too. What did you need to tow bar for? To start it?
Any chance you know what the tires were on the other deuce?
I used to be frustrated too until I came to the conclusion the markings were badges of honor. :D A freshly painted truck with no chalk/markings is usually only found at the depot.
RE: Re: RE: Deuce Receiver Hitch & Singles
Ooops, that is tough to read once it is reduced. Similar charts available on the internet.
The largest military tire that will fit on a deuce is available in three tread patterns from Michelin. The XML, XL, and XZL. The tires are about 46.7" tall...
I have been wanting to swap a turbo 400 and allison tranny into my 5 ton bridge truck to gain some more horsepower. I just don't have the time or resources to do it right now so I need to sell or trade my donor truck off. It is a 70s model made by White, and I think the mileage on it is only...
