You really need to buy a multimeter. Makes testing electrical stuff easier.
Since you have a test light, connect the lead to the positive terminal on the front battery and the light to terminal where the pink wire attaches. Tell us what the light does.
Goes to show you that before stating any electrical troubleshooting, make sure that batteries are fully charged and load tested.
Even new batteries can be bad.
An update to this old thread.
The guy I sold the unit to let it sit for a couple of years. We where expecting a snow storm and he wanted it running. He just couldn't figure out why any of the local generator repair shops wouldn't even touch it. Imagine that. A local shop not wanting to work on...
Welcome to the site. Most of us here like stock but are realists and know that modifications are sometimes needed.

I would not beleive anything that a GL employee says. All it is is hearsay. The DMV or an attorney is the only place to get a proper answe. Always get it writting as most state employees don't know the answer and the CHP will interpet it how thay want.
