That drum is spinning pretty quick, especially on the m35a2's with the overdrive. Wouldn't take much for one to go boom if it was cracked. I've looked at the drums on the trucks, but never thought to look for a crack. Really bad luck for it to have take out the service brakes too.

Jacking up one axle won't help, the other axle on the ground is connected by driveshaft and won't allow it to spin. Have to jack both rear's up on one side.
Yep, I blew a coil once the same way. Had the ballast resistor jumped out and forgot about it, it blew about 1/2 hour later. I don't think the gasser deuces have a resistor on them, but 24v to a 12v coil will do the trick.
