You could have got my 12 volt alt kit with a 100 amp alt for 175 or you could have got my kit with a 60 amp alt for 150?.And it doesnt run down the 24 volt system ..so the truck always starts even if you run the 12 volt side completely dead/
There is one problem with using a 24 volt to 12 converter to maintain the 12 volt battery voltage...First off a converter puts out 12 volts..It takes 14.6 to or at least 13.2 to actually charge a 12 volt battery.what you would end up with if you di it that way is the 12 volt battery would stay...
i didnt want to cause warranty issues so i provide the part numbers and the places with the best prices instead of having to ship it back to who you bought it from and wait for the manufacturer to send them a new one ...i get rid of the middle man ..you can purchase the alts locally and avoid...
if you have a metal battery box three batteries fit in the just fine.. plastic battery box may be a different issue..i will try it on my truck i have both types of boxes on hand here
Guys rather than hijack a great thread with the obivously highly debated subject of weather you can or can't charge two batteries with two alts.?Maybe it would be best to start another thread in the electrical forum and do some real world tests on what you are proposing..
wouldn't it have fixed the clearance problem with the rad mounting bracket if he used the rear belt pulley for the top alt?it would have put it back another 3/4 of an inch or so?
it looks that way doesnt it..my setup has two belts that drive the 24 volt alt and one for the 12 volt alt..what kind of warranty does he give on the alts?
Thanks for posting ..He has some awsome stuff.I have only dealt with him a few times. but the stuff was the really hard to find parts and his price was great ..Not sure on the prices of vehicles ..But i see a few i'd like to take offf his hands
I agree I wouldn't bother putting a sub frame on there it looks great how it is the only thing I would do is box the bed frame with 3/16 plate that's how I did mine the bed doesn't seem to flex no matter how much I load it
ok if these numbers are correct..is there anyway we could put some pics to the numbers to make it easier to identify them...Stb64 i'm guessing the turbo you have in the pic is an lds 427 turbo?
i decided to delete some of my posts to this thread as it seems it has become a debate of some type...i'm not in that kind of mood it's the holiday season.thanks for posting on your install dug..if anyone has any questions about the kits i sell pm me and i will do all i can to help you out and...
I really like the idea of having better ways to filter the different fuels...I see one problems with just dumping the different fuels in the tank then filtering it from there..At some point the amount of sediment in the tank will choke off the fuel supply line at the bottom of the tank.i think...
Nice build..Looks like factory...i keep looking at that bed and the empty roller and thinking if you made some mounts to hook the back of the bed to the old roller pin.and put a mount on the front of the bed you could use the truck as a dump to..The crane could be used to lift the bed to dump it...
i'm not saying your way wouldn't work ..just that the draw backs are with little gain .. there are several ways to get 12 volts for accesories, voltage reducers, battery equalizers, separate systems..dual voltage alts each has it's good and bads and are designed for different draws...my set up...
dug after looking at the pics i can see i'm gonna have to offer a dessert tan option.I like the primary filter set up is that one of westfolks set ups or something you came up with?
jasonS with what you are proposing you wouldn't gain anything by doing so..even if it did work...the idea of adding a separate 12 volt system is to be able to run 12 acc. without worrying about possible damage to the 24 volt system...now if you try drawing off the first battey and charging it...
