The cylinder was moving, but I'm not sure the shaft was moving all the way. I'd drop the front driveshaft, pull the flange and cover, and have a look inside. Also westy changed his, so maybe he has some ideas.
I can't even imagine the amount of labor in your truck. The cost of paying some else to build the same truck to the same level of work would be very high.

If the bearing spun in the housing, the housing is shot. Spun bearing will wear out the housing, and a new bearing will not fit tight. That is also where your play came from.
I'd say it's a different one, but the same truck. Paint colors are different on the bumper and controls for the crane. Also note the controls are moved to behind the drivers seat, no cab for the crane, and toolbox's are not there. Interesting that 2 of them are modified the same. Wonder if a...
11Echo was nice enough to send these pics to me. I got a hold of the salvage yard to see about buying the outriggers and was told no. So I ask how much for the whole thing... only 10,000. Guy was all about it runs. Ya right, with two days of solid work it might move under it's own power. To...

I would not move a M108 bed to another truck, the M108 frame is reinforced for the extra weight. The truck with crane weighs...
Technically, the M60 is the deuce wrecker, with rear winch. M108 is considered a crane. Both use the same boom.
M108's are somewhat rare, and M60's are hard as heck to find.
