So I'm trying to get more sleep these days, which means I am trying to spend less time working on stuff when I get home from work. In other words, these plasma cuts are a little rough.... :)
Here's the mounting piece... that 6" OD piece of tube is actually part of a muffler I scavenged from my...
Bidding is just like any other auction site, only the auction will only close 15 minutes after the last bid is entered. Meaning, if people keep bidding, the auction still goes until it sees 15 minutes of no activity.
After that, you need to file EUC paperwork to make sure you're not ineligible...
Oh, I have TIG, but just not AC tig. Plus, I really don't, well, ENJOY Tigging cast aluminum. Not one bit!
It was easier in the end to just make a big flat piece of steel that covered the area with the intake I needed.

Oh yeah.... before anyone decides that they will be welding to the cap of the stock air mushroom, and then spends a couple of nights restless in bed thinking about the design.... it's cast aluminum and won't weld like easy mild steel! :(

Hey guys
I JUST returned from lunch and the mailroom, and my RU3040 filter just came. It's 6" opening at the flange, 7" in diameter, and 12" long. The inside of the stock air filter housing cap (the thing that bolts to the firewall) has this 5.5" OD "mandrel" for the stock filter, and my mount...
Oh yeah, btw, I am a cheap SOB and I made my own lunette eye out of some #6 rebar... I torch heated it, and used the shackle mounts on the deuce bumper to bend two half donuts (akin to shepherd's crooks) in opposite ends of the bar, and then TIG'ed em together. ;)

I made a towbar for my buggy, and until I got sick of going 40 up slight grades and threw another motor in the deuce, it worked just fine.
Now, I have REAL CAT POWER and should be able to haul some ass.
Oh yeah, I finally got a mil plug for the trailer light connection, so I can finally...
I dunno, but I know of a guy selling a disassembled but supposedly otherwise perfect deuce PTO out in SoCal for $100.... I bought something else on ebay from him and he asked me if I'd be interested in it.
Anyway, let me know if anyone wants any more information...
Cheers
Bob
No no no no no
I mean I wouldn't put 53's on a deuce rim and run it anywhere NEAR street speed on a driven vehicle.
Towed, now, that's another deal entirely. ;)
Bob
By the way,
with the aid of a tire crane, I put 16r20's onto stock deuce wheels, and then welded the split ring on. It's just for my buggy (offroad only!) and I would never ever do something that stupid on a truck that went over 20 mph, but just saying - you can pretty much fit whatever you...
Chuckles, I know the feeling. After building 2 trucks in the last 10 months, I am really ready to take a break from vehicles.... but a friend suggested that we move onto building a diesel motorbike and now I can't stop contemplating it!!!! :)
Tom, dude, you are back! EXCELLENT! Good to have you...
So, let's do the math on that. Let's say that you want a 2100 redline engine.
Now, 11x20 tires increase your roadspeed just about 10%. So, you have a truck that went about 60 with a 2600 redline motor and 9x20's, and once you put on 11x20 tires, you are now going about 66.
However, if you use...
Ok! So look, guys, you have these engines that can't even hit a stock LDT redline. If you intend to have any speed at all with these things, you have to look for something that has at least 2500 redline.
I'm totally not trying to preach, but the limited top speed was such a downer for me. I...
You guys should be figuring in the length of your trannies when contemplating engine swaps, BTW. The deuce tranny is VERY short, and from what I have heard, it's all too easy to kill that tranny with a little bumped up power - I've heard of sheared Woodruff keys as well as destroyed bearings...
So, I am fairly sure I've fixed the internal problem that was causing the dodgy shifting. There is this small "dogleg" or shift extender/helper inside the shifter tower on the 6000 series that extends extra low to engage the shift rail on the 1-R. It was binding on another shift rail, so I...
Hey guys,
I am about to go freaking postal here. I need to fabricate a shift tower for my 6853 tranny. The goshdarn unit I have keeps breaking. It's a cast unit, and I've taken the TIG to this thing three times now, and even with the most diligent pre and post heat and care, I am convinced...
