One last question on the subject...the inside of the air chamber has a chamfer/groove in it, and the TM specifies "orient it above half way," meaning anywhere you want between 9-10-----2-3 o'clock position. What is the significance of this groove and orientation? Lubrication was my first...
Thanks to NDT. I disassembled the brand new pump, air chamber was so new and tight that it wouldn't slide back and forth. Forced the issue manually a few times and reassembled, bech tested, worked like a charm. Put on truck....success. So new and so quiet...you couldn't even hear the pitter...
Can you recall any specific issues when changing out your air over hydraulic pump with priming the system and/or getting all the air out? If I recall correctly, you had to take off and replace the pump a few times and I don't recall if it was clear what the difference was between the two pumps...
um...looks like that same engine that recently sold at auction is back up for sale, on the fleabay, for 3x the price...if anyone needs a 290hp 3116, and you have $15,000 to spare... unbelievable.
the topic is brought up in http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?158953-1995-M1081-Parts-needed
but never parsed out...no supplier/PN is ever provided.
I am trying out a generic weatherstripping off JCWhitney, will respond back in a week or so after it arrives. 25ft for $30, ordered two...
My 1081 has no weatherstripping around the doors, leaving large gaps and lots of cold air rushing in. Since I have nothing to use as a reference, can someone post a picture of the weatherstripping cross section and dimensions? I'm sure I can find a direct replacement online (rockauto) once I...
Do this...buy a runner and a non-runner...parts are expensive. Cheaper to buy a whole truck of parts if you plan on keeping your running LMTV running for the foreseeable future.
I have progressive insurance and the broker had to manually override the 17 digit VIN requirement by adding a string of 1's to the end of my VIN, bringing the total to 17. Vehicles before 1983 have a 13 digit VIN. 17 digit VIN allows for one VIN to be good for 30 yrs, then it repeats.
As far...
From start to finish, what would you estimate your total time to R&R this leak? Turbo comes off, did you remove the alternator? Thanks In advance. It looks like this is going to be my merry Xmas weekend present to myself.
It did go for a good price, but in your defense, the average between the two recent 3116 sales at auction is over $7500. So I'll still give you the nod for knowing the price of 3116's. Someone got a brand new high HP motor for a steal.
EPA label on crate motor says "290hp" EPA label on my M1081 says "225hp" new crate motor would be a beast in the LMTV
Scott Mandu, you're taking the OVER in OVER/UNDER $7k? Auction ends tomorrow at 1600hrs EST.
Why not buy a motor from, or an entire, parts truck, pluck the motor...
one of the popular government surplus auction sites has a NOS 1993 3116 for sale, in a crate, including turbo, located in MD...If I had the $$, place to store it, or the means to unload a 2500# engine, I would jump at the chance to have a brand new motor on stand by...290hp tuned. PM sent with...
Title says it all...anyone able to handle this prospective trip in January? Total mileage from base to drop off is 376 miles straight up I-95. Loading/Hook-up is the biggest hassle.
