    idiling

I'm kind of a talker;), and I have got running my mouth before and let numerous 6.2 trucks idle for an hour or so, and I have seen no ill effects.

    1009 mystery issue

The factory lift pump produces about 5 psi. If have you have no air at the filter and there is fuel cominbg out of the return, it sounds like an IP problem. Have you tried to spin the engine with an injector cracked for about 10 seconds?

    My Wonderful Christmas CUCV adventure!!!

My family and I just got from a ride looking at Christmas lights IN THE SNOW! I know that's not a big deal for most people, but the last time our town saw a white Christmas was 1898. We didn't get much, but it was blast for us to see. I never thought we'd ever see it. We went out riding, and...

So are CUCV's metric or not?

No, it's really not. I have absolutely no trouble keeping up with it. Its interesting that the world that shuns the antiquated SAE system have no problem using the SAE pressure standard. We have many Japanese built CNC machines at the plant that are all metric, but use psi gauges for the...

    I bought a M715 today!

Although the 300's really are great engines, I just can't go with a 4-letter engine. It goes against all that is good and just in the world!;):)

So are CUCV's metric or not?

I feel the same way - about the metric system. I grew up measuring in inches and nails, speaking english, and buying things in dollars and cents. I see no reason to change that, but it seems that there are those who feel we should standardize everything, speak several languages, make everybody...

    1009 mystery issue

The guy on youtube is drainback problems, meaning there is some air in the system, but the system is not competely dry. This means it is getting some fuel. If the camera was on the tailpipe, you'd be seeing white smoke coming out while he was was trying to crank it. if you go out to your truck...

    I bought a M715 today!

Oh OK. That's good to know. The M715 came with an extra set of axles, so I figured I'd be good there. There's even a set of reverse rims with the M715 centers welded in. The look homemade, but look to be fairly well done.

    m1009 life expectancy

The key to owning a 6.2 is keeping the glowplug system functioning correctly(whether manual or not) and keeping air leaks out of the fuel system. If you have either of these two issues, you have to spin and spin the starter to crank engine. When this happens, they eat starters, flywheels, and...

    I bought a M715 today!

Thanks for the advice, tips, and comments everyone. Engines are not a problem for me, as I have a 292, several SBC or BBC Chevys, a few 6.2's and the 5.9 Cummins and the 5 speed. I even have a 305E and 351E GMC V6's if I really wanted outside the box. Maybe I'm missing something, but why would...

    1009 mystery issue

Go out to your truck, unplug your fuel solenoid, and spray it with ether. I promise it WILL NOT crank. I have been running these engines for 15 years, and I have built several of the turbocharged 3 of them. Back when I first started fooling with them, I thought that would work too. Ether will...

Any fellow members in Alabama, or nearby?

Count me in!!! Mike (ARDUECE) told me you weren't too far up the road. I want a M101 trailer, and he said you may have some. I have thought about buying a pair from Redstone, and giving somebody one of them to recover them for me as I have no way to transport 2 of them. I'll give you ring after...

    1009 mystery issue

If the glowplugs are working, squirting any amount of ether is bad for it. Period. If you are ever going to start a 6.2 with ether, you need to disable the glowplugs in the case that maybe even 1 or 2 of them are working. Also, a diesel will not run on ether alone. You can take the power wire...

    I bought a M715 today!

I'm not a purist per se, but I kinda hate to pull it out if its easily fixable. I totally agree though, if its going to need much more than a head gasket, I can't justify spending that much money on a engine that is already questionable in terms of reliablity. I take it that the 292 is a pretty...

    I bought a M715 today!

Thanks! I hope I can get the Tornado going. It is really a wild looking engine. I was wondering what the extra holes in the bed were for. Do you have any pics of the antenna mounts. I'd love to put them back on. I want to put the axes, shovels, and cans back on the sides and paint it original...

    I bought a M715 today!

I bought my first M715 today, and I can't wait to get it home and get started on it. It is a VERY straight and solid truck, has no rust through that I can find. It runs, but has a blown head gasket (or worse) and has no compression on the last 2 cylinders. I am going to try to fix the Tornado...
