    Tire Matching

Hey Robert, if you solve that power divider problem, I can help you recover some of your cost by being a customer for a such a setup. I have a power divider (of course we call it a differ. lockout) on a civilian dump and it is a great help in the mud and then hiway....

    Schott Enterprises

I ,too, am confused by the "offroad only" representation and 97 form. That vehicle would be street legal in GA and because of it's age, the 97 form is sufficient for obtaining a tag and insurance. I am sure it could vary from state to state. Would not stop me from buying one. BTW, I don't...

    Schott Enterprises

I know alot of guys who say they do better on the price at government auction; but if that is the truck you want and it is nearby then I say go for it. To be able to pick out the truck from such a large selection would make the difference in the price worth it to me... You can pay less and take...

    Life Expectancy

I am not a diesel mechanic, but have some long term experience with deuces; my father used them in the 60's and 70's for logging and the engines held up in a fashion similiar to any other diesel. The biggest problem we had was with the sprag front ends.

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

Hey Ken: Thanks for the advice; I had heard the Selectros were not watertight, so I have avoided wading the deuce! Actually, in my type of construction, I don't have the issue of water crossings. However, if I did recreational offroading then I would consider it a drawback. Keep us informed...

    What fried??...Starter or Solenoid

Glad to hear it was no more serious than a battery; good reason to upgrade to the optimas. Keep us informed on how the optimas perform, I have heard both good and bad stories when used in commercial or heavy load applications.

    super singles or duals

Unfortunately my response won't help answer your question. What tires fit the stock rims; what tires work best as singles; what are the options for duals other than 9:00x20's? The tire questions are the most confusing to me. I know this issue has been addressed in several different ways in...

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

Spicergear: I agree. I would not want to have a detroit in the front without selectros. Still think air lockers would be perfect for our trucks; they work great on smaller apps.

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

Whoa! Lots of questions and info...but I like it [^] Robert: Have a airshift front axle, but still have to rock the truck on occasion to be able to unlock selectros(even after disengaging airshift). However, I put this truck in some serious binds by climbing up a steep grade with 10k# in...

    What fried??...Starter or Solenoid

I agree with the colonel; you probably burned up a battery which is the lesser of the evils. Can you jump start it? Recommend getting a cheap battery tester and checking the cells before ordering expensive parts..

    Cruising RPM

Mine is a D model and seems to like 2000 to 2250. Anything less than 2000 rpm feels like lugging. Also have to press engine to maintain anything above 2400.

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

Hey Robert: Think I would have to jack up the rear to unlock because of the tension? If this is the case, then wouldn't I have a similiar issue when I unlock at least one of the selectros on the front? As a fact, I have had to move the truck backwards or forwards on occasion to take tension...

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

Addendum to post: If I only need one double splined axle($163.00), one spool($275.00), and one selectro($300.00, hope to sell the other), then I would have a rear setup with a locker for 1K.... Not a bad deal when compared to detroit locker which do not provide advantage of disengaging the rear...

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

OK fellas, put your tech hats on and pitch in......... If I bought a spool from Ouverson and installed in rear tandem; installed double splined rear axle and a lockout hub; then would I have a rear end that I could disengage a rear drive axle for the road and then engage a locked rear drive...
