Hi All,
Seems like a dumb question, but do any of you have a proven method for getting out the odd oil or coolant spot from CARC paint? I had an engine oil leak, and now I have a few oily spots on the back of my truck.
Ideas?
Our club was invited to participate in a parade and I thought I'd just hop in my M151 and join in. Until I discovered that I had lost a front wheel cyl. Oh well... just order the parts and drive the M1009. Whoops. The oil pan seal gave up on the CUCV. aua So no parades for me. I'll...
Back when I had my deuce, I stored my cargo cover in a mil surplus duffel bag I had laying around. It held the top and the end curtains perfectly, especially if you rolled up the top the way it's described in the TM. Nice and compact, kept it all together, and had handles which makes things...
Chris,
Don't so much think of it as an accidental spillage of stinky WVO, think of it as an indiscriminate application of a low cost rust inhibitor! rofl
Seriously tho... fantastic job on whipping that truck into shape! Safe travels, and have a great time at Aberdeen!
Hi Bjorn,
When I needed to replace a couple fuel lines on my deuce, I got the same thing you're looking for here:http://www.rbisj.com/
Might be worth giving them a call.
Good luck!
Wow Chris, that bumper really was a pretzel! Looking great now tho!
Seeing the pics of your bent bumper brackets reminded me of something. I got sick and tired of having to swing the BFH every time I had a bent bracket, and since I needed it for a transmission rebuild I was doing, I picked...
Thanks for the confirmation.
That truck is about 30 minutes from my house at the Military Vehicle Technology Foundation (Jaques Littlefield's armor museum - as seen on a recent episode of "Tank Overhaul")
Apologies for my ignorance, but is this the type truck you're talking about?

I made mine too. Got a deal on the lumber from the local yard, cut it all to length, routered the edges, drilled my holes, and bolted it all on with new hardware I got at the local Ace. I took a paint sample to Home Depot and they color matched it so I brushed latex house paint on it. Figured...
You know, now that I look at it more closely, it really looks like a civvy truck someone put CUCV parts on. I thought all the CUCVs that came off the assy line were green inside and out. In the photos, the inside kick panels are white, the inside of the fiberglass top is white, and the...

Hey Chris,
On the hinge, heat might be the answer. Just don't get things too hot! Heat and hammering. I'm not familiar with the configuration of the hinge, but perhaps it would be possible to drill out the pin.. at least enough to get it to move... just a thought. Otherwise, you're back to...
Chris, I haven't chimed in until now, but I've been following your progress with great interest! Congrats on a SWEET truck, and good job in sourcing all the needed bits and getting her going! I've always wanted a 900 series truck, but just don't have the real estate to keep one or the...
Hi Bjorn,
These places are both on the wrong side of the country from you, but I've had good success finding odd hardware at both of them:
Olander: http://www.olander.com/
Mr. Metric: http://www.mrmetric.com/
With all the defense electronic stuff out here in Sillycone Valley, there's a good...
OR... you could go down the road I did...
I picked up a mechanical gauge set off ePay (auto meter) with oil and temp. It came with a mount that by some crazy coincidence, lines up perfectly with the screws that hold the ash tray onto the dash at the bottom.
To connect them, I put a "T"...
Watch out for the one Sam Winers sells. It's an import, and a bit on the cheap side (you get what you pay for). I picked up one for my old deuce a couple years ago, and was nothing but disappointed with the results.
It's your brakes, and it's a single circuit. Don't skimp on quality parts!
