Here is the text of a PM i reseived.
Hello,
My name is Jim O'Shea, an engineer with a company that makes the 24V fuel pump for the M35 and Bradleys. We have been contacted over the years for replacement parts from your members and have gladly supplied the new fuel pump. My purpose for...
the 77 jimmy's have the same engine compartment, I am not sure how different your 75 is from them.
Either way it will be a tight fit, but doable. You may have to section the firewall to clear the turbo and pipe.
RE: 1028A3 Axle Ratio?
if they did change the gears, be cautious.
To change the gears involves swapping out both carriers in the axles (since 3.73 uses a different carrier than 4.56) and i doubt they spent the extra money on a new detroit locker for the rear or the track-lok for the front.
that is gonna stink, get a second guy with a pipe wrench or something to that effect holdint the inners from the back side, then go at it with the impact again.
its cheap, but FYI you will be cursing putting it in.
Whatever you do, DO NOT let the rod drop all the way down when you pull the pump out, or you will be pulling the access plate to push it back up.
When installing use heavy grease (marine wheel bearing grease works well) to hold the rod up...
24v is a lot better for starting, there is a reason that big rigs and these vehicles have 24v systems. In a few years cars will be running 36v or 48v (more effecient) and we will finally be able to run an AC compressor with an electric motor on the car.
using the "red-dot" ac unit like they are running on the hmmwv's might be a good way to do it. self contained and runs on 24v, might be able to mount it on the top of the cab, would have to reinforce it a bit though.
You are going to have to insulate the crap out of the cab to get it to stay...
since your far from parts suppliers, I'd recommend getting some extra wheel seals and hub bearings to have on hand. (having a downed truck because of no parts sucks).
Also keep an extra primary fuel filter in the truck.
RE: CUCV alt problem. HELP!!!
12v at the drivers with the truck off, 24v at the passenger, with the truck running should be ~14volts at the drivers and ~28volts at the passenger.
