    Several Bridge Truck Questions

Well, I have found the right set of manuals for the bridge trucks. I think researching these trucks is half of the fun and it just takes me a while to understand. The bridge truck you have is shown in TM 5-5420-209-12 (and others in the series). On the cover of the manual, 4 different NSNs...

    Several Bridge Truck Questions

Thanks M139! I'm surprised the approach and departure angles aren't any better. They are only about 3 degrees more than a standard 5 ton. I would have thought the 1400s would have yielded more. What about using 16.00s? Who is smart enough to figure new approach/departure angles with 16.00s...

    Several Bridge Truck Questions

I think I need a bridge truck and have some questions. I have reviewed several manuals and have found bits of conflicting and/or missing information on the bridge trucks. I know several members have them and I was hoping for some help. (All questions are related to M809 series bridge trucks)...

The tires look great! Do the wheels have pressed centers? What took so long on the wheels?

    Is this rack for radios?

Thanks for the help guys. The rack is from an M820 expansible van. Here are a few more pics. I will check again for data plates, but I didn't see any at first glance.

    20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins?

RE: Re: RE: 20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins? When the Army singled out their deuces (M35A3) they went with 14.5R20s (43").

    20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins?

RE: Re: RE: 20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins? The largest you can run on a stock duece after hub flip is 46". Choices are typically either Michelin XML 395/85R20 or Michelin XL G20 Pilote 15.5/80R20. If you bob your deuce and go 4x4, you can get away with 14.00s (49").

    20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins?

Re: RE: 20 x ? wheels for 52" Michelins? Getting rims will be the easy part. Getting 16R20s on a deuce without serious modifications is the hard part.

    Hi all, I'm new here

If you want the 8.3 CTA Cummins then you will need to get an A2 model. It will come with 14R20 singles and CTIS.

    flag display.....

On a vehicle, old glory is always flown on the right side. However, I don't think it is proper to be flown from the back.

    Hi all, I'm new here

BTW, you can definitely get what you are looking for. There are not as common as the older M809 series trucks, but plenty available, about $15K-$25K. I believe one of our members just sold 3 or 4.

    Hi all, I'm new here

I'm not sure where the M939 id came from, but most of the trucks in the series are either in the 920s or 930s. There are some line haul tractors in the low 900s, M911, M915 etc. and other vehicles in the high 900s, such as M998 HMMWV. Therefore saying M900 series is too broad to properly...

    need to borrow a dolly.

I think the deck is a full 4 feet high, but it looks like there are some channels on the rear for ramps to set into. Sounds like you are going to have a fun road trip.

    Hi all, I'm new here

RE: Hi all, I C'dub- Welcome to SS. For the best overview you can possibly get on these trucks, read the operators manual. It will be of great assitance to you in learning about these. You can buy a hardcopy one from a member...

    need to borrow a dolly.

Have you looked into bigger tires for the M818? You could pick up road speed pretty easily with a tire swap (60-70 is attainable, if desired).

    Reversible Kingpins

The M172 25-ton lowboy trailer has a reversible kingpin for use with the either standard 5th wheels or the large ones used on the M123, M911, M1070. Are there any other military trailers designed with a reversible kingpin?
