Definitely. From my experience with mineral spirits a good soaking/sloshing around will probably help out a lot. I'd let the parts air dry afterwards though, in addition to blowing them out with compressed air.
I had to use this type of chemical when rebuilding my axles this summer, thats the...
I haven't dealt with the air cleaner on my M37, but I have on our WM300 Power Wagons at work (same cleaner essentially).
I've got the M37 manual right here; It says "Servicing of the carburetor air cleaner...should be performed as frequently as operating conditions require."
I'd say clean...
Thought all you guys would be interested to see this!
MY father works for the state department of fire services, and was in Pittsfield yesterday doing mask fit testing. I had heard rumor that the town's Civil Defense had an M37, and he said he'd try to get pictures.
Sure enough, at lunch...
Our old M1009 at work had this exact problem....annoying as **** isn't it?
Someone had mentioned they thought it had something to do with the speedo, cause it got faster and slower as the truck did, and the speedometer stopped working....but I really don't know how fact based that was...
Well, made the appointment yesterday! The Tuesday following thanksgiving my M37 is being transported to the equipment shop where we bring our power wagons at work...

Besides the M1009, am I wrong in thinking that that is a mule on the trailer?
Figured you guys would enjoy seeing one still being used in the public sector!

Now I know that the correct carb is supposed to be a etw1.....
Mine says "Ball & Ball Manufactured for Chrysler Corp." with the number 0-781 stamped on the side.
It looks original, but from these numbers can...
Guys:
Its been over a month since my last post; I've made only a little progress since then unfortunately!
Been all tied up at school an hour away from home, but I did make it home last week to do some work to the ol' girl.
Got the front brake lines all installed all the way to the master...
I guess I must have been miss-informed. BUT, I have seen several descriptions like this, makes sense to me:
The M42 was an M37 with a "Command Car Kit" applied. The kit included the
following: Map light and reel, map harness, junction box, map table, side
curtains with clear plastic windows...
