Not at the moment. When you remove the cab from the frame are you planning on replacing the rockers off the frame? If so you might be surprised at how much the cab flexes and the door opening changes! I've done this a couple times and found that welding a piece of angle iron across from the A...
A few months ago I was at a spring auction that has 100's of vehicles, I was surprised to find an 86 M1008 complete and solid with a snowplow I bid it up $1700. and it went for a bit less than $2000.! It would've been a great replacement, all set and ready to roll. If I had a need for it I...
Like others said "caster" But that should've been measured and noticed at the aliagnment shop, also didn't the shop tech test drive it?
I'll bet the "tech" dosn't know or understand the geometry for a proper alignment and just puts shims where the computer tells him to. Find an old shop that...
I've seen that before, some hack changed out the joint and couldn't get the C clip back in so out came the MIG. Find a used replacement or have the shaft rebuilt, rebuilding isn't that expensive.
As a truck driver I've learned a few things about fuel economy.
Tires with tall side walls are NOT your friend, the flex more and cost you money.
The more aggressive the tread = lower MPG , not what you want to hear!
Synthetic oils and greases are your friend, use them and you'll love em.
Your...
I've used it, works good but splatters a LOT, shake well then shake some more, when you think your done shaking shake for bit more because the tip clogs easily! Also works great on exhaust pipes to keep them rust free.
I'm going to toss my 2 cents in here, IF (notice the caps)I remember correctly there is a check valve built into the lift pump to keep fuel from draining back to the tank that would also block the air from blowing BACK to the tank. If that valve is stuck it might block it both ways. But remember...
Please do your research and ASK questions before doing any "improvements" such as converting it to 12 volts! Lots of guys have gotten hacked up trucks that the town mechanics didn't understand and butchered. Thats a good looking truck and will serve you well for years as is.
Ok I went back and reread the the first post, First off your truck is not 5/8 ton, the military called them 5/4 T or in correct english it would be a 1and 1/4 ton.
As the slow speed and low power much has been written about that but have you checked the fuel lift pump? How about the air cleaner...
Wow, thats one tough read there!
The JD engine swap (how can I say this nicely) is a piss poor idea!
I have a M1008 and with stock 4.56 gears and a 700R4 tranny cruise at 70-75 without a problem.
The rest of your post is just more or less gibberish.
:lol::funny: I'm sure you do!
Years ago my then teenage son came home with an Chevy truck that was everything he didn't want. It was a 6 cyl. 3spd manual and a rot box. I replaced everthing including engine, transmission, cab bed and front sheet metal, all from parts I had in the garage. And...
When removing the old bolts I don't even try to unscrew them, just cut or tighten till they break. It's a PIA when you get them a bit loose and the they slip and start spinning then ya gotta figure a way to push them into the hole and hold them there.
